Is there any ford production vehicle. Besides SD diesel ,running stacked cooling and intercooler ? Anything I can think of had the CAC/HE in seprate lower location than the cooling package. Gt500 ,raptor R , gen2 lighting , Focus RS. Diesels do it because the have a ton of surface area to work with. Huge radiator and huge CAC. Few percent gain in efficiency/ IAT not worth to me in AZ . Would like to see some real world data . 100 deg day . Iat2 , cooling ,ac vent temps. On same truck . Same day . Both types of CAC tested. Plus 1/4 mile runs.
Still waiting on the sciencey stuff ...

Yessir. All VW’s do this. I had a 2015 golf r stack went ac/intercooler/radiator. The ac and ic were the same size as the radiator too. Many Audis do this as well. Here is a photo of the surgery. What you are seeing here is the black ac condenser in front. The oem ic has been removed and goes between the ac and radiator.

I’m thinking... AC condenser gets a part time break for being ... cold sometimes! :)

of course, these are not Fords, and they’re relatively small, with a rather pedestrian use case. Not something you will be desert bombing in, or towing a boat with regularly.

Yes true, but that little thing was putting out over 400 AWD HP. I also spent many days at the track with that car, again no issues whatsoever. Look, people should do what they are comfortable with. But I've had the truck for 5.5 years now, in extreme heat, fully loaded without issue. The FMIC is not going to cause heat issues with a properly functioning cooling system. I do run a 170 degree thermostat however.

VW Looks little thin with small end tanks and thin crosstubes. If the f150 FMIC tanks were farther apart closer to each headlight with all air flow passing through fins and tubes maybe . Like I said real world comparison of both be great and not on a dyno. Unless it was Gale Banks loaded dyno.

Just to butt in here, its counter intuitive to believe putting a radiator in front of a radiator will somehow have no effect. You are clearly obstructing airflow and sending “preheated” air for the radiator to use. Also the reduction of air velocity For the radiator as well. Which as we all know speed of
Flowing air has a big effect on cooling.

Even stock trans cooler support has air pass holes through it.
