Call it drone... call it exhaust note.

I can appreciate an advocate for informed purchases, Guy, but you have not driven with our exhaust. With that said, you're giving advice on a product with no experience of said product.

We're quite familiar with drone, and developed patent-pending technology (i.e. 180 Technology) to deal with it. The Raptor did not require it.

Further, 95-105hz is the actual drone range for a four stroke motor, not 40hz. 40hz is almost subsonic, which is not where resonant frequencies with the human ear come into play.

We record our product videos the way we do to be informative, and replicate driving tendencies everyone would inevitably experience. There's no doctoring, no music overlaid, just organic material with nothing to hide (on an otherwise factory configured vehicle).

:)

which one?

Not looking to hijack this thread by pointing people to other products. That’s not fair to Josh or his company.

I’m just trying to point out that I’ve been around the block and for those who are new to the platform, they have to be careful about what they buy for this truck in terms of exhausts. Trying to save folks who may be looking for that cool 5.0 Fox body sound on the Raptor. Not happening.

Josh,

Notice I’m not calling it drone. There is a distinct low frequency howl that comes from the ecoboost. And I’ve recorded both the frequency and decibel level in the cab while working on trouble shooting with another company.

Drone, is as you and I are aware, a problem of resonance that can even set into motion the entire frame vibrating in harmony.

I believe 100 percent there isn’t any traditional drone. I’m talking about just the pure harmonics of the engine.

You’re also right... ive not tried your product yet. I may.... just to put it to the test!

Appreciate the clarity and input, Guy.

just got my AWE 1FG installed this morning. blown away at how awesome this sounds. about 1.5 hours to install align and tighten everything up. The truck idle sounds so good. overall very deep tone to it. semi cold start and light rev gave off a pretty cool crackle too. normal driving mode it is very tame in the cab. no drone at all just 20% louder than stock. i know all about drone from past cars and when it becomes unbearable with windows up at low rpm`s. this interior sound is far from drone, my daughter didnt even realize i had an exhaust installed until i asked her how she thought it sounded haha. exterior noise is awesome. very deep and smooth, downshifts are far more pronounced, and high rpm hooning is epic. im comparing sounds and drone to my Twin turbo M3 and my 650s mclaren, and this raptor setup definitely doesnt disappoint. i`ll be adding some proper drive by and acceleration videos this weekend when i get someone to come out with me, but for now here are some phone clips right after install. video doesnt even do this exhaust justice. its muchhh deeper in person. hopefully the dslr with rode mike will get some awesome footage without ambient noises

first startup

couple revs and drive off from the shop

The sounds clips are encouraging.

However, I'm already running Kooks green catted down pipe with SPD turbo adapters. Anyone installed any AWE configurations with the Kooks yet??? The Kooks and TA's have already added considerable volume. So I suspect Kooks+SPDTAs+AWE would be extremely loud.

Call it whatever you’d like, but I don’t like the noise inside the cab while I’m driving around in traffic. It’s pronounced to me and the 4 passengers I’ve had in the truck didn’t think it sounded good either. It’s not something I want to listen to so I’ll be stepping it down to the 2fg to see if it sounds better to me.
