Let’s talk wheel offset and jumping

This thread is meant for those of you that use these trucks as advertised. Obviously a stock wheel (17x8.5, +34mm) is best suited for tucking under the fenders upon landing.

I wanted to get feedback from those with lower offset wheels that actually jump your truck and if you’ve had any rubbing or issues. What size/offset are we talking, what size tires do you run, suspension mods, etc.

Asking for real world feedback. There are plenty of people that take their truck to Baja that have a setup like what I mentioned. Thanks for the troll post.

Do they have offset rims or mid travel kits ?

FWIW, there's no desert in Florida like in AZ, but there are a few places here that you can jump, and get some good speed on section similar to whoops etc.
I've seen guys just about tucked on a few spots here and no issues, even with methods which are traditionally 0 offset. No one has lost any fender yet. Even when the truck gets bucked up in the rear and the front soaks most of the initial impact.
That being said, I know on previous generations you could see some rubbing on OEM tires if you truly tucked the tires in.

On my Gen 3, I'm still on OEMs, but even back to my Gen 1/Gen 2 days with 0 to +06 wheels and "true" 35" tires I never had any issues when offroading.

Yeah the Gen 3s have larger wheel arches as seem to have a lot more space up in the wheel wells. Thanks for the feedback. Not many places to jump up here in PA either, but the group i've ran with usually has a jump in their course.

I’ve only jumped my truck bone stock but in this video one of the EXO guys shows his truck at full bump and claims no rubbing at all with 17x8.5 +6 offset Icon’s, Gladiator 37x12.50’s and SVC collars.

I’m sure this video has been shared before but it’s real feedback from a 1200 mile Baja run in a basically stock 35 truck.
And for what it’s worth, I plan on running a 17x8.5 +18 wheel with an OEM spec BFG 37 because that’s the stance that looks right to me/I know it’ll tuck when I send it and leaning towards one of the top hat leveling options.

On my gen 1, I run a 37x13.50 Toyo Open Country M/T on Method 315 0mm offset. I have jumped my truck numerous times, and only one time, have I had a true issue. I was at silver lake sand dunes in Michigan, and was going too fast hit a g out, and fully tucked my old 37x12.50 KO2s up into my fender, and it actually broke the fender, I used self tappers to screw it back together. I have pictures I can upload. But if you are cautious and calculated about what you hit, you should have no problems. I have aired it out on the Toyos and had very minimal rubbage. I'm on Gen 2 3.0 non live valve, KHC conversion buckets up front and rear brackets. RPG 1.5" shock collar up front on Gen 1 Eibach Springs. I also recently installed limit straps, which for my particular setup, have helped a ton!

This is good info, thanks for posting. I am kind of in the same boat. Want to bump up to 37x12.50 K02s, but unsure of how I should go about doing so. Don't love the OEM wheels.
