I just did the 894 bulb mod. In broad daylight, I can tell the bulb is much brighter and much hotter. I can feel warmth through the housing (much more so than the stockers even though it is 34 degrees F outside). This was on for about 30 seconds. There was no melting/burning. I will make a new thread with a how to do and pictures later tonight when I get night shots.

Sweet! Will be looking forward to it. Just out of curiousity if these work out, wonder if a different color would help or hurt the rear camera picture??

That's a good question, and my answer is that I highly doubt it would help any more so than the regular halogen color. I'll find out how the ones I installed helped or hurt the backup camera picture quality. I'm going to assume that the brighter lights will help because they are mounted high and far away from the camera, unlike many other people's added fog lights as reverse lights which are mounted below and closer to the camera causing that light to flood the camera's picture.

Sorry to disappoint but I can't find a good place to take some pictures. I'll have to wait until I go home... Which may be another week or 2.

I'll make a separate thread so I don't clutter this one up, since it's not a led replacement. Link to follow...

My final solution went in a different direction. I bought a pair of 4.5W LEDs from Amazon (see here: 2x Custom Black Anodized Aluminum 6500K Xenon White 4.5W SMD LED Eagle Eye Lamps Back Up Backup Reverse Parking Light For Car Van SUV Coupe Sedan : Amazon.com : Automotive) and did a little simple wiring with the 7-pin trailer connector to wire them into the back-up circuit. Problem solved, and it wasn't expensive in the slightest.

cool idea. any pics of output?

i posted this in another thread. maybe helpful to some...

Photos of 4.5W EagleEye LEDs installed as auxillary back-up lamps. It's nearly bright as day backing into the garage now.
