Guys buys most macho truck on market, bragging rights on giant price tag. Total alpha move…..needs a baby step to get in bed. Lol

Also- this stuff happens when you buy a truck sight unseen before any are even on the lots & don’t bother browsing the build sheet/window sticker before committing nearly $100k to it
Ok cool guy. You’re right though, I plan to put the truck’s MSRP in giant font across the back window just so people know.

95% of people commenting on Gen 3 ordered sight unseen, so that’s a great point… I should consult with you before making large purchases in the future, you seem to be amongst the most intelligent people on here. :)

Men never needed a tailgate step 10 years ago, just sayin........

It's nice to have with a camper top but yes typically use the bumper as a step and the stake pocket holes as the handle. Was kind of cool when some stake bed pockets were shaped for your hand to fit better with gloves on. Does cost some time to pull step out so usually only for the camper setup.

my gen 1 has step. I'm sure they've improved over the years. not impressed, and wouldn't order a new truck with one. heavy, rattly, and a hassle to deploy.
Dunno. I don't see how, given the constraint that it has to be narrower than the top of the tailgate. Then it has to hang mostly down to keep leverage reasonable and minimize weight. If it was wider and stuck out farther from the tailgate I could maybe see using it. As designed, if I need a step, I'm buying a two-step aluminum stepladder like my BIL keeps in his bed.

Maybe gen 3 has a better design, but on my gen 2 I've nearly torn the facing off unloading a saw that caught on the edge and I've gotten a cup or so of gravel inside the tailgate because I didn't know to duct tape over the damn thing before hauling gravel. It took months for all of the gravel to rattle out. And like you say, it's a heavy b*tch. I've had the tailgate off twice and it's all I can do to manage it alone. I would spend money to delete the step when it's time to upgrade to gen 3.

Wait so if you ordered the truck, YOU picked the packages… so you should have known what your truck was coming with. Did you actually order it or just take a dealer stock order. I have ordered about 8 auto and I knew exactly EVERY option that was supposed to be on the cars/suv/truck. I spent hours checking a double checking. I guess when I am spending 75-100k on an auto, I damn sure know exactly what I am getting.

I have to say, my man got a point…the options were out there. Regardless if it should or shouldn’t have it given the price, do your homework.

I love how every thread on here always ends the same. Several people throw their comments in about how much better they would have done whatever you’re talking about.

You’ve missed the point of my original post, which is that a nearly loaded truck should come with basic options. Some options you expect to be there with high trim levels, so forgive me for not checking. My last three Raptors had the option without triple checking. I guess I shouldn’t have assumed it came with power windows too, thank god it has that.

I’ll add you to my list of people to consult for my next purchase.
