Thanks for a cool thread. At least you have the balls to try something that probably hasn't been done on a raptor! Let us know how it goes man.

It’s been raining here and i have gone out and jumped some things so far i was only able to push the bump stops in three inches by judging how far the O ring on the stops are pushed down. I will put a camera under the truck when it gets less muddy so we can see what’s really going on when i jump things. I am planning on going to Prairie City with the rest of the NOR Cal Raptors and beating the crap out of it and definitely will put a camera under the truck to catch the carnage. Also the wife just bought me a TIG for my birthday so i will start some fabrication projects soon.

As to whether or not it is strong, a similar thickness piece of tubing is stronger that a rectangle or square. That is because it spreads out the force. Think of a roll cage. There is a reason that they use round tubing instead of square tubing. If it was square tubing it would be a lot easier to bend and weld. It is because similar thickness is much stronger.
In my opinion, I think that he managed to strengthen the frame, if the Tubing is at least the same thickness as the frame, and if it goes through the frame all the way.

Way to think outside of the box and get a lot of additional strength in the truck.
