Agreed. Wait until 3/36 is almost up then buy an extended warranty.
I’m not sure it’s any cheaper if you buy it sooner but it may be. Seemed like a reasonable deal to me and I don’t buy the warranty for anything.

The difference between before 12/12K and 3/36K is $100. The reason to buy it sooner is so the first day rental applies to all warranty repairs, and to make sure Ford doesn't decide to raise the price before you buy.

Will that warranty from Flood Ford work in any state ?

Just an FYI, I mentioned Flood Ford to a member from Florida and he claimed you have to buy extended warranties from a dealer in Florida if you live there. I do not live there, but others seemed to agree. I see you are from New York, so you should be good.

The Ford ESP is good in all states, but in Florida and one other state the Auto Dealer Association lobbied to get legislation that the warranties can only be purchased from within the state to keep the prices high. If you moved in to Florida with the warranty in place it’s fine, but in Florida you couldn’t buy it from Flood or Ziegler.

Reminds me of when one of my client groups and the TADA lobbied in Texas to make it so insurance companies couldn’t own their own body shops. About three years later that client group was purchased by an insurance company and had to sell of their body shops based on the legislation they lobbied for. Guess what they are lobbying for now...

Your version makes more sense than what I heard the first time. If you live in one of two states, you have to pay more for Ford ESP based on political garbage. If you live somewhere else, the more reasonably priced ESP warranty is still valid if you choose to move to one of these two states. It is still a crappy deal for those affected.

Looking to get a raptor and I never knew extended warranty was so cheap on these trucks. With the cam phaser issues, it almost seems like for ~$2k, it's almost a no brainer.

I agree. I keep reading folks saying extended warranties aren't worth it even on some of the flood ford threads. Seems like it would more than pay for itself after one big time repair involving the trans / engine. I recall my local dealer saying the cam phaser service bill is in the neighborhood of $4k if it's not under warranty. Maybe we're missing something though?
