just bought 2 BADBOY 519 mini air horns.. advice

So I went to auto zone this morning and say these BADBOY mini air horns..

it was only $44 each.. So I picked up 2.. but now.. I have no skills in this kinda stuff..

The instructions seems easy.. just connect all the wires shown on the instruction..

My question is do I disconnet the battery before I do this?

and also it says use a 20amp fuse.. Does my stock horn use 20 amp fuse?

and since I have 2 air horns.. do I need a 40amp fuse??

one more thing.. its says use 18 gauge wire for ground and 16 for the rest..

I looked up 16 gauge wire and those speaker wires came up with 2 wires..DO use that? or just any thick wire would work??

You can use 16 gauge for all of it. As far as the amperage and fuses, someone with more experience will have to answer that.

Where do you live? It would be much easier for someone close to you to help.

The fuse you need depends on the amp requirement of the horns. The fuse is to protect the horns from more power than they can handle. So lets say the horns say they require 10 amps and you have 2 of them. That means you need a 20 amp fuse.

It's always a good idea to disconnect the battery when playing around with wires.

Doesn't each kit come with the inline fuse?

And you should hook it up to the power terminal in the fuse box in the engine compartment with a solder less connection
You just take the two inline fuses (power +) wires from the air horns and tie them together. Each one with it's own fuse.
The relay wires can then be tied into the factory wires for the horn.

It would help if you attach a picture of the instructions.
At this point I'm just guessing how the kit is built. LOL

your oem horn does not use a 20 amp fuse. in regards to the wiring, why they would recommend 2 different guages of wire is not normal. however if your ground is much shorter then the power then there will be less resistance in that part of the line. but good rule to follow, is to use the same guage wire for everything. since it came with instructions to use a 20 amp fuse, and you have 2 of them, i would recommend using 10guage wire with a 40amp fuse if you want to have 1 battery connection. otherwise use the recommended fuse for each one. also a relay might be needed as well. you will need to take the wire from the oem horn into the relay to power the new horn. the oem wire was not designed to handle this much current

but this is what I bought its a 519 model..not the 419.

So what should I do if the factor wires are nlot made for this much current? change them out? or install just one?

I saw a guy that bought 2 of these and he installed it with no major problems..

the oem wiring is fine to power a relay. the relay only needs about 100ma to trigger. just use the horn wire as the input to the relay and you should be fine.
