But I digress. When I first joined here, this place could be a bit brutal. I got used to it quickly and people have actually been very helpful to me. I've gotten many informative replies to my sometimes dumb questions. So I may as well press my luck.
In no particular order: (Yes, I know, if I RTFM, I could probably find the answers, or maybe not, but you guys are so much clearer for me.)
1. Are the daytime running lights the same as when the headlights are on? I saw a '17 or '18 behind me in daylight on the highway and the headlights did not seem as bright as my '19. Is that because they DRL are dimmer?
The DRLs are slightly dimmer. I'd venture to say 80% brightness on DRL vs 100% on normal use.
2. A FORSCAN question or two. Yes, I know there's a 50,000 page thread on it. It's overwhelming to a simpleton like me.
Bambi mode. What exactly is it? Does it turn off the DRL and turn on the yellow/orange trim light around the headlights? If so, I want it.
Bambi mode only applies to the regular F-150s with OEM headlights. It allows the high beams and the fog lights to remain on at the same time.
2. Another FORSCAN question. I bought the piece that goes in the OBD port. I've yet to use it. Why? Aside from being a partial dope, I'm afraid to f something up. With all the videos I've watched, all the posts I've read, I haven't found one that clearly and easily explains how to back up your original settings before taking the dive.
Personally, I use the wired cable to connect for Forscan. I didn't see the need for BT when the wired module works fine. Don't be scared. Read the manuals thoroughly to the point where you understand everything. Watch some videos if needed. Save every single module before you change anything. Then, follow the instructions and make one change at a time. You can do it!
3. When you brake hard, does your rear seat, if it's in the up position, come down? Only the side that's larger on mine does. The smaller one requires pulling the strap to lower.
Haven't had this issue on our 2018.
4. What the heck is the BiltRite thing that releases and locks the seat back for? is there that much space back there to store stuff?
It make it a heck of a lot easier to lower the back of the seat on the driver's side rear seat latch. There is some space back there, not a ton. If you have a truck with the OEM sub, there's really not a lot of space. But there is room for tow straps and other smaller, flexible items.
5. This one is a bit more important to me so give it your best shot. Now that Cobb is offering a tune for the '19, I haven't seen that many write-ups on it, but I see many on other tunes.
So, which is the best tune for the '19? And will it give a lot more power without other mods?
We carry quite a few options, but honestly, we lean towards COBB each time. The multiple years of R&D behind them in multiple climates and elevations make them safe, reliable, and powerful. They are as good as you're going to get for a canned tune. That said, the lack of TCM support, for now, is the system's shortcoming. However, COBB is actively working on it and it is priority 1 for COBB's Ford team now that Stage 2 ECU support for the 2019 trucks is available.
If you want more or want a custom tune, there is a network of COBB Protuners available for both e-tunes and actual dyno tunes if you want to explore custom tuning.
Last and probably least, what is that little hoop strap attached to the side of the seat near the seat belt buckle for?
Honestly, I never figured this one out. I always thought it was some kind of "stop" to keep it from going too far in a certain direction, but that's as far as I got.
Thanks again.
