Alright - diag suggest bad crankshaft.

FKING DAMN IT.

1. Tear engine down and rebuild -$7k
2. Pay for used middle mileage 3.5 eco, $3-4k, $2500 to install, STILL 7k.

Thoughts? Anyone close to MD that can do the install for less than $2500 or have access to good used low mileage engines? If the engine is coming out what else should I consider?

Well, he had phasers done before I think. If a certain bolt isn't torqued correctly, isn't this what can happen?

Well, they want to tear it down because they suspect that it is the crankshaft. Great shop, they are just trying to figure it out you know? Not knocking them.

Well, he had phasers done before I think. If a certain bolt isn't torqued correctly, isn't this what can happen?

If the crank bolt isn’t torqued correctly it will damage the crank gear. Which of course is a workmanship issue. But that can easily be confirmed, they’re stating “diagnostics suggest” a “bad” crankshaft. None of that adds up.

wow, I am surprised how a complete block is so affordable...less expensive than a complete set fox or other aftermarket suspensions kit...Who are the scammers ?

they still cant figure it out?

if everything has been changed in the front and it sounds like it coming from the bottom then its prolly a rod bearing so it will prolly need a rebuild or reman. if the front cover is still off might as well drop the plastic oil pan and inspect the lower end. maybe even do a compression test
