yah Id love to see some dyno numbers with a full tank of 93 + an octane booster to get it to ~98.

Problem is the fuel mixing with octane boosters. How do you ensure you get good mixing of the 93 and the booster in the fuel tank.

Last thing you want to avoid is poor mixing where the timing jumps in between the two extremes of trying to time for 93 and then 98 slightly later, getting it wrong and causing knock.
I used to run Octane booster in my old mustang when I was at the track and never had an issue nor did I ever hear a racer even bring it up before. We had 108 octane at a few stations but it was on an old pump and if the the station was closed, no gas. There were times I could not get 108 and had to utilize booster. I would not worry about the octane booster being "too thick to mix" or having it settle in the tank. It is the same consistency of gas and like another said, pour it in and then fill. Besides driving around will do plenty of mixing..

I went to check out 'PriusChat' forum--it's pretty funny.
I’ll bet you feel a little dirty, don’t you? Thanks for taking the hit for us.
Do they also have a 93 octane thread? Trying to get that little extra HP bump?
Lols. do they even measure hp? I thought they measured in squirrel power to inflate the numbers.

Easy now.....

I’m just sayin’. Not sayin’, just sayin’.
Remember, we’re over here on FRF, jabbering about which Rap gets better economy, when the enthusiast crowd of us scoff at economy quite a lot of the time. We are fortunate.

I always run the highest oct fuel I can in all my vehicles. Have a Chevron on the way into town that has 93. And if I remember right there is even a sticker in the gas lid that advises to run premium fuel. WHY would ANYONE ever put 87 in a vehicle that advises premium?

As a side note, anyone running a tune not only will benefit from ethanol fuels (more knock resistant = more power/reliability), but your tuner will probably suggest it for those reasons.

Agree re: always running premium and always fill up once I dip below 1/2 tank; for the extra ‘insurance’ in case I get a bad tank.

Not concerned in the least about the mileage on this vehicle, but the extra 20 - 50 HP can be felt when running premium fuel.

Also, I’ve found stations with high turnover (fresh fuel) has far more difference in the ‘feel’ of how the truck’s running vs overall octane. I do use Shell V-power regularly, but try to get my gas at Buc-ees or one of the other high volume places around here whenever possible.
