So...break the window..drive away in an expensive truck...brilliant idea...Let me know where you park...LOL The security in these trucks truly is more sophisticated than their owners. If you think Ford added a keypad on the outside so you can leave your keys on the inside waiting for an opportunistic thief then you've misread the situation my friend. Plenty of other uses for a keypad than to leave you keys inside your vehicle.

I happen to live in an area, and my gym is in the same area, where car theft is basically nonexistent. I do not take my truck to sketchy places so it's not a concern. Yes, opportunistic thefts have occurred from gym lockers, and that's why I'd rather leave the key in the truck.
It's the only place I do so. But if they break the window and take it, I'll be on my way to the dealer to get a brand new one. I wouldn't shed a tear, believe me.

One of the use cases is to leave the keys in the vehicle. When I need to do it, I put the keys in the back by the tire jack. Same for my wife's explorer. That way if the car does get broken into, the car wont just start. Someone would have to know where the keys are, or find them, and bring them closer to the shifter. It is like a 2-3 bubble the keys need to be in to start the car.

When I am on vacation and the vehicle is parked in long term parking, i dont like to bring my keys. We actually lost a set on vacation once and had to break a window....(many years ago).

I'll see your lost keys and raise you a set.

Way back in 1985 my wife and I, ***** at the time, were away for a bicycling vacation on Block Island off Rhode Island. We went for breakfast to a place that was packed and had a sign "Please wait for Hostess to seat you." I don't, or didn't then, pay attention to such nonsense. There was an empty table. I said let's go. Reluctantly my wife followed and we sat down. Few minutes later the hostess came and made us vacate. My wife was so embarrassed that when we got outside she threw the keys at me. They were hopelessly lost, buried in a sand dune. Our bicycles were Kryptonite locked together at the motel. Cost me a hundred bucks for the local gas station to weld that lock apart. And we couldn't get in our car when we got back.

Oh, did I mention our now 32 year old son was later conceived during makeup sex?
