If you are to never leave your key inside, then please tell me, because other than a few screws, I’m obviously missing something, what are the numbered buttons for? And yes, I do expect it to know when it is inside. My Lexus and Porsche and Honda absolutely will not lock from outside if the key is inside, no matter where inside. Just like the car will not start if the key is not in close proximity to the start button.

I agree with MDJAK, this feature needs to be looked into in great depth. When using the keypad from outside this should override the system and the proximity of the key being left inside the Rap.

Never had an issue with my Gen1 truck with leaving the keys inside the truck and using the keypad. I have not tried it with the GEN2 but will do so this afternoon

From the Owners Manual:
In order to override the smart unlock
feature and intentionally lock the
intelligent access key inside your vehicle,
you can lock your vehicle after all doors
are closed by using the keyless entry

keypad, pressing the lock button on
another intelligent access key or touching
the locking area on the handle with another
intelligent access key in your hand

So if you use the outside keypad to lock the truck, it ignores the key it can sense inside and locks anyway.....

So...break the window..drive away in an expensive truck...brilliant idea...Let me know where you park...LOL The security in these trucks truly is more sophisticated than their owners. If you think Ford added a keypad on the outside so you can leave your keys on the inside waiting for an opportunistic thief then you've misread the situation my friend. Plenty of other uses for a keypad than to leave you keys inside your vehicle.

So thieves assume that ALL Raptor owners leave the keys inside?...because if that was the case wouldn't we see a rash of Raptor trucks getting the front door glass broken, but the trucks were not stolen...
Yeah I get your point, but it's like any other feature in that owners need to think it thru...I've locked the keys in at times, but there were a bunch of times where I would not...

Well it seems like Ford must have figured some people were going to do that that's why they placed that excerpt inside of the manual.

I myself like having a very high-quality console safe installed where I can lock whatever I want my console, including my key.

Each to their own...AND, no reason to insult anyone for their individual choice...
