As for people willing to pay $90-100k for a Raptor, I imagine that number is lower than you think. Especially when where talking about a factory stock truck, not a modified one. If Ford, thought they could sell enough modified Raptors for that cost, you eoyld have seen them do it with gen1s. That didn't hspoen then, and it won't happen noe. I'm not worried about the value of my new truck. There will always be something newer and better. I don't let that devalue my decision. That's why I've been married for 20yrs. Just because there is a new model, doesn't mean I made a bad choice.

good points - very few vehicles are considered "investments" - and none of them are 'new' cars currently...

Raptors aren't rare by any means, and modded ones 'can' get you more money than OEM in resale but be prepared to show $50k workovers on the truck to not even break even...

just buy what you want (actually - need) - but WANT comes out a lot more with Raptors...

probably < 1% of Raptor owners "NEED" a raptor... guys that NEED offroad can buy much cheaper and mod the shit out of it ;) LOL

I’m kind of ready to go in and talk about possibly ordering a new Raptor with a dealer or two in my area. I can afford a Raptor, but there is no urgent need for a new vehicle that is driving my decision. Before getting into MSRP or MSP+++ with a salesman, I don’t really understand how they can get a big premium considering Ford has had to scale back production for the regular F150 so much. Maybe the dealers in Middle Tennessee aren’t price gouging as much as other areas in the country and that would be nice.

When buying new vehicles in the past, I have always bought nicely configured “left over” previous year models at significant discounts. The main reason that I may pull the trigger on a new Raptor is that I would like a super comfortable full size truck that is a couple feet shorter than a Crew Cab F150.

I also like the look of the Raptor, especially the SCAB. It looks like a ground pounding sports car to me!!! My kids are grown and I don’t haul a bunch of stuff, so I don’t need an aircraft carrier for a daily driver if that makes sense.

My dealer's salesman in SE MI told me they have 2 allocations left for Raptors and is selling at MSRP. (previously he said I was 8 of 9 and they were sold out but he says they got 2 more for 2017...that is another discussion...whether true or perhaps 2 of his prior allocations dropped out since I didn't think Ford had given any more allocations out).

PM if you are interested in a MSRP deal in SE MI and I'll give you my salesman's info.

There is definitely a TTV8 coming in a street legal Ford vehicle. My money is they offer it as an option in the Raptor after the GT500 is released.

Powertrain: It is all but guaranteed that Ford will equip the GT500 with a twin-turbocharged V-8 engine, as supercharging (used on the outgoing GT500) doesn’t blend with the company’s EcoBoost forced-induction strategy. But the question remains which V-8 the automaker will use. The Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 would seem to be as eligible as the GT350’s 5.2-liter Voodoo engine, itself a modified, freer-revving Coyote with a flat-plane crankshaft. Both engines have high compression ratios that might need to be lowered for forced induction. To fit Ford’s EcoBoost branding, which is assigned to its turbocharged direct-injected powerplants, either engine would need to switch from port injection to direct fuel injection.

Not sure about the engine, but it makes a good sound. I can't hear any turbo whistle, but then I don't hear any supercharger whine either.

I still don't see the engine making its way into a Raptor. I guess time will tell.

Ya who knows if it will. Maybe it's got a 7.0 in it from the Windsor plant [emoji12]

Hey Crash,

You seem to be softening your stance on the possibility of a ttv8, and a little less certain than you were a few days ago that it wasnt happening.

"I hear that the TTV8 version will also come with a date with Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman in the back seat as the Navigation, and a Get out of Jail free card."

sincerely, Crash457

The article doesn't say its a TTV8. The author imples that. I'm still not convinced that it is a turbo. I don't hear a turbo in the video. Time will tell. If the day comes that I'm wrong, I'll admit it or back pedal like a politician.

The test car is rolling to w stop and isn't really on it when pulling away. Not to mention there is other vehicle noise and the noise coming from the camera vehicle. If you could hear a turbo or supercharger in that scenario from a phone microphone you have better hearing than I
