It's funny how many people still think a V8 is coming.

Strange. I don't see where it says V8 in that article. I also don't see where it is going into a Raptor. Besides the engine it is replacing, it isn't goint to be a performance engine, or anything you would want in a Raptor.

Just trying to stir the pot - :specialed:

I'm so grateful I found this forum with so many informed people. It's only my 2nd time buying a vehicle in the US and I'm beyond excited to get such an awesome truck. I would have totally wasted $$ with a CA dealer instead of patiently waiting [emoji51][emoji51]

I thought that the 5.0 ecoboost v8 for 2018 was confirmed. No???

some even thought that a late model 2017 may have as an option.

I know its definite that ford has been developing the turbo v8, but just dont know when it will be seen in production.

Does anybody have better intel?

No

No

and Never

No one has confirmed a V8 for the new Raptor, late 2017, 2018, or otherwise. Ford has built a TTV8. Building AN engine in no way constitutes developing an engine for production. If the 5.0 ecoboost ever sees any production it will be in the CJ Mustang race platform, not in a street vehicle, and definitely not in a Raptor. If you are waiting for a TTV8 Raptor, you might want to also wait for the Unicorn leather seat trim.

For reference Here is the engine everyone seems to think will end up in the Raptor:

Despite the Fact that this Mustang Cobra Jet can clearly be seen in the background.

My ford dealer even told me he has heard the rumors but nothing confirmed yet, and then there is this article.

Update: Twin-Turbo V8 in the new Raptor: The F-150 Raptor will also receive the upcoming EcoBoost 5.0 V8 in 2018 | HorsepowerKings.com

Not to doubt you, but how are you so sure we wont see the v8?

A different review site also said,

"2018 Ford Raptor Specs

Of course, the most important upgrade coming with the 2018 Ford Raptor is its twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8. Exact output numbers have yet to be revealed but we expect this unit to deliver more horsepower than ever. Besides the latest addition to the engine lineup, the Raptor will retain its familiar 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 as the base unit. The engine generates 450 horsepower mated with the ten-speed automatic transmission, which should also be offered with the new twin-turbo V8. Other significant upgrades expected from the 2018 Raptor include Ford’s latest Terrain Management System and the new Torque-on-Demand transfer case. Thanks to these enhancements, the upcoming version of the famous Raptor will take things to a whole new level when it comes to the performance of a pickup truck."

I know sites try to get views by maybe stretching the truth, but it seems there are several rumors out there by different sites. Just wondering why it could not happen. Actually seems logical to me that they use the TTV8.

If you think there's going to be a V8 and you don't need a truck, then I say wait for the V8. I don't think there's going to be a V8 next year, but there may be one down the road.
