That is seriously some shit to be proud of Ironman!! Mad skills I wish I had - the welding seems very intimidating. I've seen how hard it is to weld aluminum. I have the Outlaw Raptor Vertical Rack and it's pretty sweet.

Here's my biggest issue: The OTC Racing Jack ($217) needs a skid plate and mounting plate. Outlaw sells one for the Sears Craftsman Jack, but the jack is pure junk.

My jack is so similar to yours, but different. See pic below:

I would love for someone to be able to build the skid and mount!!

My bolts were a bitch for sure. I thought there was no way to make it happen. I used a combination of an impact drill and a long handled ratchet setup. The impact loosed them up imperceptibly, then slow and steady with the ratchet got them moving. I was exhausted and ready to pass out.

My guess is mine were not as old or rusted, so that may have helped.

Also, I noticed with the Outlaw Raptor "bungs" (the part that holds down the rack), tend to get water inside and start to rust. Did you do anything to stop this problem? There is no way to stop water entering through the quick release pins and the the water can't escape easily. So it sits in the "cup" and starts the rusting process.

Glad the heating process worked for you!

Thanks, I love welding. I find it to be very easy to do but I know some people can grasp it quicker then others.
At my old job in Canada my boss told me to weld something with a mig, I picked up the welder and ran my beads and from then on he through me into fabrication. For never welding with a mig guess I did ok. haha
I believe this jack might be similar to yours.

Not sure who makes it but I've found it to be cheaper to just buy it.lol

As for the mounting points of the rack maybe drilling a small hole towards the very bottom to allow the water to drain might not be a bad idea.

Maybe drill it from the inside through the edge or put some greese inside to stop rusting.

I don't know how I missed this but DAMN! Thats a great job for sure and I bet it feels pretty good to say you built this when people ask who made it for you. A+ from me :party36:

It truely does feel great to know I made it.
Thanks!
Next is a new bumper. ;) lol

Thanks for the info! That IS my jack (just the anniversary logo missing from the side). I have to track this down!!

There are many skills I've learned with my Raptor, and many tools purchased to do the work myself. Maybe I need to learn to weld!

Those were my two thoughts on the rust issue; drill a drain hole, or grease the parts. I'm surprised OR doesn't do that already or recommend adding grease. In Colorado I'm likely to get a bed full of snow, so I know these areas will get wet a lot.

Good luck on the bumper build! I just custom ordered an ADD Stealth Winch front bumper. Five weeks to wait for my new toy!

I definitely recommend learning to weld. Comes in very handy.
I shouldn't have to many problems with water since mine will be hidden under the cover.
Congrats on the bumper. Pics for sure.
