Thanks for the clarification...so the pass thru is part of the fixture? As to the battery life, I agree. For the long trips I was thinking of going thru the tray and picking up power on the unused USB on the back of be radio. For now I just drop down to the cigarette lighter. And as to security, I lock it up in the console when I am out of the truck.

Anybody else that's done this, especially if you've used the second usb port on the back of the nav, have any problems getting it to work? My iPhone works fine on stock usb connection, but I'm getting squat when I try to hook it up to the second usb. It just hangs on initializing on the nav. The phone beeps, starts charging, then stops and gives the standard device not compatible message.

I think I may have the problem nailed down, but just looking for anyone else's experience. I'm running a mini usb to usb A connector. That plugs into a female to female usb adaptor which lets you plug the iPhone sync cable to the other side. I think the adaptor may be the problem but I'm not entirely sure. I got it off of amazon and when I had problems I went back and looked at the reviews. Somebody on there mentioned how it was a crossover connector or something to that effect and said the way it was wired wouldn't allow you to use it as a straight through connection like you would if you're just using it to hook 2 usb cables together. I'm going to try a different one and see if the results change.

I got the proclip with the direct line power line, I then just soldered that to the cigar lighter leads. I don't smoke and rather have constant power for the phone since it has low draw. I got the mount which is closet to my right hand to the left of the nav/pocket cup. Works real well, phone is at eye level so you can see the controls easily. Keeps both of my USB ports free for other uses. Install took 30 minutes only because that dash panel is so freakin hard to get off without removing the whole dash. If I ever change phones I can just change the cradle mount. Unplug old mount and plug in new mounts power and call it done.
