Hi all,
I am desperately in need of advice if anyone can help. The long story short I ordered a 21 raptor in July and not with anything crazy just the regular wheels spray in bedliner moon roof and that was it. In December when I called for another update and I really pushed for it they said actually there was a problem your orders been converted to 2022 you need to change the color because I had picked Leadfoot, so I changed it to black they resubmitted the order same order number and everything no problem. Between December and now I’ve also called Ford and told them what was going on they told me no updates there’s no vin number yet but your dealership will be absolutely able to reach out to their resources to see and get an actual answer what the holdup is .We are now in March and I checked the dealers website they have a newly ordered raptor it says dealer ordered raptor 2022 which was placed in October which was already assigned a Vin nearly all the same stuff that I had picked but this one had a few additional add-ons and an auto stop start remove. I called my dealer and I spoke to my sales person who spoke to the only person in the dealership that does the orders for vehicles and pushed to find out what was the actual hold up. I said I already saw on the website they have one ordered the only person that orders they call him the ordering manager said there is no hold up he sees and I don’t know what to tell you and there’s no special number to call to get an update so what Ford told you was pretty much a lie. I told them to remove the auto start stop and remove the bedliner spray to see if that speeds up the process. I called Ford back Ford goes I don’t know why they would tell you that they dont have people that they can reach out to that maybe I need to speak to a finance manager or a general manager . Btw there is a admin fee of $10,000 tacked on to the MSRP and they charged me the difference in price from 21-22. Ive made a deposit of $10,000 in July already and I was told if I didn’t put more down in cash they were going to charge more as an administration or whatever you wanna call it the mark up fee. I’ve worked extremely hard and saved up for this truck that I have wanted for the longest time does anybody have any advice or another number or anything to help. Btw I am in NYC. Again I apologize I try to make it as short as possible and sorry for the rant.

Its just like unbelievable, I know it’s a pandemic and everything is delayed and I completely understand that but like this isn’t even a little dealership this is one of the larger dealerships in New York City and they confirmed last year they had allocations and then last year they got four as of this year from on the website they have two so far. And to kick you while you’re down I asked about the two they have listed their sales manager said one of them already is bought and was ordered for somebody and the other one they canceled even though there’s a vin #to it which made me go even more that doesn’t make any sense.

I hate to discourage anyone from buying a Raptor... well, except for prius drivers, but this is just a really, really bad time to want a Raptor, Bronco, Super Duty or pretty much any Ford. The Raptor is being overcharged almost everywhere. You’re looking at :

1) tough it out for who knows how long
2) abandon ship, place an order with a reputable stealership
3) abandon ship and find another vehicle.

Honestly, if I was Raptor shopping now, I wouldn’t be for long. This kind of market is not a good one to be shopping. it’s just not worth the frustration.

Plenty of decent Jen Too Raptors available, members here are selling, maybe check the garage sale forum.

I’m with Rona. I would escalate to Ford and hammer Mike Levine on Twatter. Check the window sticker on their website when it it posts and if it is green, it is a customer special order. Most likely scenario is that was your rig. These dealerships are making tons of money on these inflated prices. Their day of reckoning is coming.

Escalate your case. I smell a rat.

Like what @jchap711 said, consider getting a Gen2 to hold you over. It's 90% the truck the Gen3 is and you can have one sitting in your driveway tonight. Plus you're not going to lose any money on it while you wait.

I just wanna say thank you to you guys, you really gave me some clarity and help lit a fire under my ass. I’ve already started looking for a gen 2 in my area and contacted a whole bunch of dealers. I’ve also tweeted the entire story in great detail on twitter and tagged Mike Levine as well I’ve also wrote Ford on Instagram. I felt totally defeated before and ready to just give up and get nothing, now Im on a mission. Ill update and let you know what happens!

I see the problem, you are in NYC....seriously. Stay away from metro area dealers, too many skumbags.

Like Smurf said, There are plenty of gen2's taht pop up here. Good folks, selling good trucks, no mystery trucks like at a dealer.....heck some have a history of posts that tell you how they treated their vehicle and problems they may have had.

Mostly agree with this guy. If you don't need to be buying a vehicle (or home) right now, then you shouldn't be. Unless you love a headache (most likely).

I think if you needed to come on the internet to figure some of that out, well. A fool and his money.

And no I don't think a Gen 2 is the way to go. They are all overpriced, like every other used vehicle right now. Hell my gen 2 is worth somewhere between 4-10k MORE than I bought it for two years ago. That should tell anyone all they need to know, that market is jacked up right now, but it won't last. And when the prices come down, some people are going to be real pissed for flushing that ADM money down the drain.

My vote is unless you absolutely have to have a vehicle right now, wait (patience is a tactic) and get the one you want a year or two down the road when the market has turned a bit. But if you want to chase your tail a bit, have at it.

either way, I'd tell that dealer to suck my balls.
