I'm going to have a go at making my own lightbar, what could possibly go wrong?...

Still need to make the mount for behind the grill tomorrow as last bit of snoball prep, but, that should be pretty straightforward.

Amber rear+blue for front for the snow.

Amber is mounted with custom adjustable and removable adhesive mounts that look suspiciously like the extra GoPro mounts I had laying around.

I doubt someone would swipe it, but, if they do, I'm only out $30 in materials and some time. Then I'd just make a proper one like the smaller blue lights with another revision.

Temporary mountable since I'm not sure enough on where to mount it to drill holes in my truck.

I have enough LEDs left to make a few more, but, my ideas for the next version require some tools I do not currently have access to.

For now, anyway, the rear and front, center are going to be tied to the same upfitter switch. I have another driver so they could be separate, but, this was an afterthought and I cannot get more heat sink in time to mount another driver.

Switch 1 will run the center/rear

Switch 2 will run the outer 4 on the front.

I could run it all off of one switch since it's ~21A, but, I choose not to for now.

Hah, all weekend at the snoball I was too busy having fun to remember to take pictures of my lights out on the trail.

I'm quite pleased, the blue in the front made a huge difference over the factory HIDs, and the rear facing amber box was a big help according to people who were behind me.

I had more than a couple people ask "Whose lights are those?" then get to reply "Mine, I made them".

Anyway, a picture I found that Heather took.

I'm sure others will surface from the run.

Pictures from outside just now, I should get ones in the dark tonight.

The wiring is fugly still. I finished with 3.5 hours until I had to leave for snoball early Friday morning and it's really cold outside here right now. It will be all neat and orderly eventually.

Anyway:

You can see that the LEDs are all a clear shot through the gaps in the letters, which is exactly what I was after to begin with.

Wow...blue really does light up the snow. I knew everyone said that but this is the first output shot I've seen. Very cool.

This is in the fully lit garage, the best my phone can manage.

They look awesome. So, after all the work, would you do it again? What did the materials end up costing you?
