I'm going to have a go at making my own lightbar, what could possibly go wrong?...

Please let me be your first customer. I think this is bad ass that you're doing this.

We'll see. Right now I don't really have any intention of selling a set. I'd be more willing to just post the measurements on how to copy it if everything works out.

Anyway, some more testing.

Reflectors on the lights. Just held in place with a couple dabs of RTV for now.

There is some light that makes it out past my notches to clear the screws and solder points, but, it's much less than it looks like in that picture.

Downish shot.

Hotspot of the beam. These are listed as 10 degree spot reflectors, but, they're not actually made for use with the Cree XM-L.

This was with the truck pointed down my driveway. Which is why the cutoff is fairly close. I'm pretty amazed at how bright the LEDs are at full power, especially since it is only four of them. My complete plan is 24 above the ford letters and 28 below, for 52 total.

In the pictures, my light box is just kind of sitting on the bumper, though, I held it behind the center opening below the letters and it looked like there was very little impact on the light thrown out.

The first box was tedious to make, but, I think I have it figured out for making the others quicker.

I'm happy enough with the output that I ordered 6 more chunks of heatsink.

Going to fill the 7 spaces below the letters, using 28 LEDs.

Should get them in the mail early next week, and hopefully have everything working within a week or so after that.

I have the last bit of extruded heat sink and have everything laid out.

Just waiting on hardware and my aluminum angle to be made which hopefully I have by the end of the week.

I might also be able to borrow a small drill press which will make my life much easier. For the first box everything was done by hand with a cordless drill and a vise.

Forgot I had this thread.

Everything should be ready to go for SnoBall this weekend. Settled on 5 lights in the grill and one rear(with an amber cover) for now. Which is 20x10W LED front and 4x10W rear.

I tested everything last night and it seems plenty bright, all I have left to do is make a bracket to mount them.
