Identify this random part I found in my new raptor

I understand that, but you can not take it off without first opening it. I guess this allows you to keep the tailgate unlocked.

How is it more secure than the stock lock?

I figured if you left the gate down for whatever reason,, but really the beds are easy to open without the handle, or the older ones were anyways.

You must not know what I am talking about. I am not talking about the lock in the handle. An anti theft tailgate lock goes around the hinge mount point on the tailgate so that its much harder to remove your tailgate.



The factory tailgate is removable and rather easy for a thief to pop it off and take it, the anti theft lock makes it a much more difficult job for a thief.

Even if you keep it locked they are easy to break into. As simple as popping the handle.

Another thing mine came with that I thought was odd was a tailgate lock, I found the little key in the glovebox. I've never had a 150 come with that

A seperate lock from the built in one. Why would you need that?

the tailgate lock you have is an aftermarket part. looks like the dealer had that put on
