Ideas for this oil leak or blowby... 2019 9K Miles

So... came back from the NFR rodeo in Vegas and decide to take my father in law for a quick detour off outlet center drive.

As we all it’s pretty rough and we were primarily cruising around looking for a specific map pin I had dropped. Making it over and it a wash the ruts were close and deep with my stock 2019. Zig zagging and keeping off the main fast roads was interesting... I was respectful of my passenger but I know slow is t always smooth. Don’t think I could have hauled the mail through there.

Today I found 2 things... 1 is whatever... I’m a little concerned on the other.


Skid plate- Yeah. I get it.

oil... WTF? We bottomed and hit hard in zone slow speed putting but that was just suspension.


The skid is 100 percent being in ruts for 39s and moving on top of them

Ps... that’s on the passenger side right behind the CV. If looking at the CV dead on that oil is about 11:00 position.

Remove the skid plate and take a better look...?

Is the oil leak on the passenger side by the alternator? Check your seal around the timing chain vs valve cover seal. It looks similar to mine. See the link below. I have to take my truck in next week to repair. I have a 2017 with 52,000 miles.

Thanks for that link. Fair enough... I hosed down the undercarriage and crawled everywhere with simple green, and lubed everything again. I’d hope it’s something simple. I get some rattle on a cold start. Tried not to worry about it too much.

Or take it to the dealership, should still be under warranty.

You will want to address that specifically right away. Add yourself to the cold start rattle poll too.
