Hi Guys,

I've had my eye on the RPG kits for quite some time, but as I started to research, it seems like the prevailing opinion is that the Icon stuff is simply better. The stage 4 icon kit comes in a quite a bit more than the stage 4 RPG kit, but does come with some extra parts -- anyway, my question is a bit more focused.

I'm planning on adding the Hellion kit - the RPG suspension upgrade focuses on the rear first while the Icon kit doesn't change the leaf springs until stage 4. To me (which isn't saying much), it seems like the rear needs upgraded the most. Am I missing something? I'd like to get rid of some of the wheel hop especially if I'm adding a couple hundred HP.

Thanks!

So are you comparing both for wheel hop and street use or ride travel when going off-road?

No, you're right, the rear needs upgraded the most and in our opinions that is where you see the biggest on road ride improvements. As far as which stage 4 kit, I'm not going to sway you one way or the other. If your going straight to stage 4 (what we did on Yukon's truck, RPG ) then your concern about when the springs are included is not relevant. If your going a little at a time then it's going to come down to preference(the reason you're getting popcorn posts).

Thanks for the replies guys, and definitely NOT trying to start a debate. I'm mainly wanting street improvements, as I'd love to get more off-road time but it's very limited right now.

I'd also prefer to go with the least of what I need right (as far as suspension is concerned) now and have an upgrade path for the future.

Thanks for the advice thusfar!

I say start with new leaf springs and a bump kit, unless your off road journeys require further mods

That is an excellent thread, don't know why I haven't read it before (am now) but this doesn't address HP and wheel hop in the rear.

I believe the only way to eliminate wheel hop is upgrade the leafs and add traction bars (Paul's Performance in MI sells them for the Raptor and says he guarantees no wheel hop). But then it isn't good to go off-road. If that is all you are after though, then save some money and just do that.
