Don’t let the surface rust bother you. It does not affect the performance or lifespan of the leafs. They will outlast your Raptor ownership without issues.

I live in Texas, so I do not have to worry about road salt. However, I paint my Deavers and wheel hubs every time I rotate my tires at 5000 mile intervals to keep the surface rust to a minimum. Here is what they look like after 2.5 years.

Hey guys, looking to go Deaver +3 leafs on my Raptor (or the Icon equivalent), and I have read a few complaints about the Deavers rusting. I'm in Illinois and my truck is used through winter and salt. I read somewhere on this forum that the Deavers are corrosion coated as a whole, where with the Icons each individual leaf is coated, so the Icons are less likely to have rust issues. Not sure if that is true or not.

I was thinking of getting them powdercoated myself if that would help and maybe following up with some Amsoil HDMP every year. It would be nice to avoid getting them powdercoated if it isn't necessary as it just obviously adds to the cost. I saw too on this forum someone mentioned that Deaver had recently changed their coating method and they shouldn't corrode like they used to. Can anyone confirm?

And one other question, do the aftermarket leafs squeak? Can you hear it from inside the cab? Have seen this mentioned a few times as well.

I am in Illinois also and went with Icons. To prevent Rust I spray whole bottom of the truck with Fluid Film before every winter including Leaf Springs ... it does the job ... no rust yet. Dirty job but well worth it. Also went with RPG stock lenght rear Shackles.

i'm wondering, if the leafs were to be powdercoated... would it affect it structurally since the it will be heated up during the powdercoating process?

Don’t know as this is the first platform Ive dealt with leafs wise... however on coils like aluminum wheels you’d probably want to go the low heat process route. Figure the same for leafs?

I don't believe powder coating temps are anywhere near the temps you would need to start affecting the steel hardness/strength. I believe powder coating is somewhere in the upper 300 degrees F (maybe 400 tops) and you need to get well over 1000 degrees F to even start messing with the steels hardness. I'm not a materials expert..........but I did stay at a Holiday Inn........ :33:

My concern would be more on how well the powder coating would take the flexing of the leaf springs without cracking.

It's been talked about before and it has been stated that it will end up cracking and powder coating leaves isn't recommended.
