I had ICON's installed 6 months ago and I did notice that on one side the bottom of the CO cone support was rubbing on the trans-axle but when I say rubbing it was so light I didn't mind. So now I have a problem with my 4wd not staying engaged even though everything says it is engaged when you apply a load the front system makes a loud pop and I have no 4wd. I have it in for warranty work but now Ford has denied service due to the fact that the base of the CO is touching the trans-axle

Has anyone had this issue ? and if so how did you correct the problem ?

Do you have the allignment spacers (not sure what the are called) installed on the bottom of the shock? They keep it from moving front and back where it attaches the lower control arm. There should be one on the front side and rear side. First thing that comes to mind.

I'm sure your 4wd problems have more to with the notorious torsion diff which has been failing on a lot of people.

Also, how high are your icons set? If they are just as they came, you're at top perch level which is a no no on 2012 and up. Again because of the torsion front diff. I had the shop lower them before install on my 13. They're actually set as low as they can go.

First. there isnt a trans-axle on teh Raptor.
I am guessing you mean halfshaft?
If so then the shocks are install incorrectly.
I have a 12. install my icons when new, at teh setting they came at and have zero problems with 21k miles on them now. IWE's work fine. all else works fine.

I had a similar issue with mine. I did the install myself and like Bigg stated had the misalignment spacers at the bottom of the coilover installed backwards. By changing their alignment, this moved the coilover back away from the axle by approximately 1/2". I would venture to guess that is your issue.

As for the perch I believe its at the lowest setting, I had them installed at Outlaw on the way to the Toy Run in Dec. I can't imagine the spacers wouldn't had been installed if they were missing I'm sure I would have a much lager problem than just a slight rub. Although that might be the easy way to fix the rubbing if there is spacers I could offset the CO further back from the trans-axle to give clearance. I do know I don't have them at top as I have ripped out my liners from impact

Sounds like this is the problem. I'm going to the dealer later today to pick up the truck and I'll know by tomorrow. I'll let everyone know as soon as I know. Hoping this is the problem .

Thanks for the correction on the trans-axle that was a guess at best, now I know half shaft ( never to old to learn )

If you want to send us an email with pictures of the lower area we would be glad to take a look. [email protected]

These may have the older coil cups that were a little tighter on tolerance, but when aligned properly still do not hit. We did make a running adjustment to the coil cup to accommodate the use of aftermarket RCV axles about 1.5 years ago. With that said you want to have it aligned leaning on the positive side of caster and they will clear fine. Also make sure the spacers as mentioned above are installed in the correct configuration which I provided a picture below.

Also what is the condition of your spindles, are they bent at all?

one trick I use is to spin the lower cups so the slot is towards the rear- this gives you a little extra space. this helps with both style lower cups. The alignment is a factor for the spacing- I run extra caster in my truck which make them very close. Some are just close no matter what- each truck is different. Jack the truck up and droop the front suspension, use a pry bar to spin the lower cups. be gentle since they are aluminum and dont score the shock shaft. just push the bump stop up out of the way

Update, Brad from ICON has been working with me on a solution and it seems like everything is correct. He has a fix for the problem this is to realigned the camber to the max and this will open the space between the cup and halfdhaft
