Anybody can go fast in the snow, but how fast can you stop?

Thank you! I see a lot of overconfidence in this thread. Yes, the ability of this truck to accelerate and maintain in poor conditions is exceptional. It’s ability to stop and turn in it is not.

Look at how light the rear end is. There’s a majority of you on here that drive in 4A when it’s just raining. Imagine how fast that thing will whip around if you lose it.

The wide tires and stance are not immune to following or getting loose when transitioning from slightly plowed lanes to unplowed. You can and will lose your shit during these situations too.

And let’s not forget black ice.

Again, that is what makes the Raptor special. It is so balanced and composed. It warns the driver well ahead of time when it is coming un glued from the road, and when it does....it is no violent whip. It is very controllable to an individual with the correct skills.

Now, be a noob who throws on the brakes at the 1st sign of trouble....yeah...you are going to spin and hit a tree or worse. But controll the throttle and steering inputs and you can drive right out of it.

Once my KO2s are gone on my winter wheels I’m gonna go with some Nokian LT3s.

If you live in an area where it’s allowed I’d even consider having them studded....I had studs in em @ first (& had studded blizzaks on previous GM trucks too) & I’ll tell ya man the raptor pretty much defies logic/physics running them studded lol!

I only took em out b/c I was chewing up my concrete driveway too much....can avoid it by not turning the wheels much when stopped or moving slow, but it was a pita to be mindful of.

if I had a cheap asphalt or gravel driveway for sure would have left them studded

they’re def no aggressive AT....but I actually think they look decent on the Raptor- sporty look to the tread in a way

bought the wheels off a FRF member while on a road trip for work, ‘18 base wheels I think- reasonably priced for sure $400 range I think

and YES if you stomp on the brakes on ice/black ice/hard pack snow w/ these tires you’ll stop, in a straight line, & probably 1/4 the distance you’d stop w/o em esp when studded

Well....

I love this weather because you can use this truck for its purposes. I help others out from time to time, but I do get flipped off often because of left lane drivers.

No clue what goes through their self centered, useless bodied mind.

Prius drivers, CRV drivers... for Christ sakes..**** of my ************ WAY.

One thing I use in the winter ***** is the gears to control speed and breaking is the gears -paddles or shifter.

Downshifting and maintaining 2500-3000 rpms is a nice range to be in.

No studs allowed here but I ran Hakkas on my car and they're the best winter tire IMO. I've had other brands but Nokians are amazing on ice. Deep snow is good but something with bigger blocks/siping is better for that. I'd say they improve any vehicle's handling/braking/grip up to 40%
