first things first, i have to thank one of our members for letting me poke and prod his truck. so thank you mpyle101.

things were a bit difficult today, so i dont have any new info yet. however it was not a total loss. i was able to get good info regarding the wiring behind the radio. so now i can do more research. this is till a work in progress. hoefully i can get some schematics soon. i will let you know

I must have misinterpreted the OP. It sounded like you had the solution all figured out already, it was just a matter of documenting/illustrating the procedure for the forum. With full respect, I don't think it can be done, but I will be happy if proven wrong.

schematics are nowhere to be found. i know it can be done because one of our distributers has done it. now they make a piece that sells for a lot of money as a plug and play unit. so right now its just a lot of testing

Do you know if any of the tuning devices that can change things like tire pressure senser parameters and such turn on the camera?

its possible, but im not sure. if you could reflash the computer to tell it that you are in 4L it might work, however you would need a way to bypass that when driving normally. because of the sequence necessary to activate the front camera is so complex flashing the computer might cause other problems
i found out that the front camera has an ignition wire going to it. so the camera has power whenever the truck is on. but dealing with data signals is a pain. ford doesnot want to give any info on the wiring. i found the place where the signal gets sent to the screen, but again data. i didnt have time to test for nav bypass either, this would allow camera above 15 mph, because the guy had to leave. i am going to try my best to get the schematics so i can hopefully get some results soon.

No prob.

I gotta say, it's a little funky taking your new truck (a little less than 5K miles) and helping to pull apart a good portion of the dash, center console and flow through console. Fortunately, there weren't any screws left over when we put it all back together.

...too.....fast.... Huh. Weird.

P.S., I would love this option at the push or flick of a switch. I have some really ******** dogs that like to run in front of a vehicle when I jockey it around in the yard. I've tried kicking it on the regular way, but then it's a bitch turning and whatnot with the 4x4 engaged. I just found this thread and don't live in CA but my nephew does, you can borrow him. Please hurry, the life you save may be my dogs. Thank-you for under taking this.
