Jeeps are great.... for crawling slow like baby, uncomfortable highway trips, maximizing depreciation, oh and and frequent chrysler service visits...

Haha! True except for Wrangler depreciation. Around here it's crazy what used Wranglers bring for how crude of a means of transportation they are.

I like the 4runner too. I have tried to steer her in that direction but she thinks it's too boxy...but she likes the Jeep Wrangler, a rolling cube. Go figure. As of today we have 3 vehicles that are in the running: Mazda CX5 AWD Grand Touring, Ford Escape AWD Titanium, and Jeep Wrangler Sahara. I located a seat lift kit for the Jeep that will raise it up 1.5 inches. That should solve the issue of seeing over the dashboard. The prices are $29600, 33900, and 32000 respectively. The Mazda and Ford come very well optioned at that price point.

If you want something that you will actually enjoy driving stay clear of the Jeep and I hope you don't want storage or heat either....lol.

If you enjoy spending lots of time at the dealer, like wind noise, squeeks and rattles buy the jeep....anything that you can remove the doors and roof will never not make noise...

Did you look at the Audi Q5? I have been looking at different SUV's for the ol lady as well and she really likes the Q5. I have been trying to find a nice used Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI they quit making them with that motor in 2010, I always liked them and they have tons of power. The only other SUV she seems to like is the Grand Cherokee but I am not a fan. If all else fails and we can't agree i'm just going to go get her a explorer sport cause of the deal I can get at the Ford dealer where I buy my trucks.

Why not a Mercedes? She would love it. C class is in budget. Pre owner or demo ML350 is too. Our other car is an ML350. Love the Benz and it's safe and could drive itself. Bells and whistles galore.

She really wants to be a little higher up on the road and a C class Benz just doesn't offer that kind of ride. My last Mercedes was a CL55 and I loved it. For the money I am looking to spend I can't get a good quality MB SUV that is either in warranty, CPO'd, or has aftermarket extended warranty. As I'm sure you know Mercedes are great cars until that warranty expires. I have a 911TTS that is our weekend/date night car so I want to stay away from the higher end premium brand sedans as her daily driver. Her and I dont share the same opinion when it comes to caring for vehicles. For her it's just a way to get from A to B with no concern for door dings, curb scraping, etc. Probably because her money isn't paying for it! My budget is 30k-40k. I've been researching the 2015 Mazda CX5 and the Grand Touring model gets really good reviews and seems to be the compact SUV class leader. Up until now I've had zero experience with Mazda but from what I've read it seems like owners are pretty happy and loyal.

Thank you. I needed to read that. While I understand what a Jeep really is and could live with its small imperfections she would drive me insane complaining about all those issues.

I have my Raptor and the wife has her Wrangler. It really is the best of both worlds for us. I'd recommend the Jeep and a set of seat risers. The newer Sahara should be "Plush" enough for her. (Mine drives a 98 Wrangler that looks like she hit a tree with it. The cat sleeps in it at night, and the kids use it for a jungle gym.) She loves the thing. I hate driving in tandem with her because I always have to wait for her as the Jeep only does 70 or so without shaking. Happy wife, happy life.
