I Think Ford Might Lose The Battle

I thought about not reviving this topic again, it does not end well generally, but…

Ford dealers, many of them, particularly in large metro areas, are adamant of asking for ADMs. In some cases, outrageous ones. So Ford and Raptor fans are at a minimum paying MSRP as best deals. On the other hand, multiple RAM dealers now openly offering $5-7.5K off MSRP on 2022 TRX. Some of those dealers are the same dealers asking for ADMs on Raptors. On top of this, these dealers have been delivering the trucks, at least appears to be the case, not much complaints about chip shortages or truck shortages.

Now with that kind of discounts, one can have a well optioned 2022 TRX, equivalent to 801A+35s at the same price or even lower than a 2021 Raptor.

Even if the TRX was cheaper, I still cannot bring myself to buying one, but more buyers may go that route given the current approach of RAM vs. Ford dealers. This cannot be good for Ford. I am not even getting into the craziness surrounding the Bronco Raptor or Lightning.

If the dealers can move the raptors with an ADM on them, it's not a problem for anyone but the people not willing to spend the extra money. If it was a problem and Ford wasn't selling all of their raptors, the dealers would drop the markups.

Trx is in second year production and no longer on allocation basis . You still can’t get msrp off the lot on the trx. Wait a year and raptor will follow suit as well. None of these trucks are limited runs. There will be 30k raptors produced in 2022 IF we get back to pre covid production numbers. Count me as one of those that has a trx at 6k off btw

There were $30K markups on TRXs 6 months ago. The market for $80,000+ pickups is only so large and supply will soon catch up with demand pending supply chain constraints. Everyone wants to be first with 37s and ‘OMG!, check out my new Raptor’ on Instagram.

Patience is something that also appears to be having ‘supply chain issues’. Users on this forum and Bronco forums too are legitimately acting traumatized that their vehicles have been delayed. It is exactly that kind of mentality that leads to decisions to happily pay thousands over MSRP.

A few things to consider are the build quality (reason for discounts I've learned first hand). My 2020 2500 Laramie was 16k off MSRP in Glendale but that was dealer incentives added one. Hard to explain but I'm guessing the thinner metal in the body/bed components on RAM saves some coin and it makes crazier deals possible. It seems that way and maybe your right but the TRX is V1 of it, 2 people who I know got them sold them already. It will be super interesting to see how many units move vs customer lifetime value / retention.

I'm one of those that flipped for the TRX. Cancelled my Fully loaded Gen3 35s MSRP $80k and ordered a fully loaded 22 TRX MSRP $93.5 for $86.5. I would love a fully loaded R but I bet you won’t be able to find one under $100k for two years after they come out. I love my 2020 Gen2 and Will never bash Ford. Just wish there would have been a bigger difference between the generations then tech and rear end. Usually I cheat on Ford for a couple years but always come back.
