I am glad everyone liked my "mod".

And just remeber the tint paint is VERY brittle so after you 'tint' it make sure it looks the way you like it to. If you don't like it, because of runs in the paint or whatever, now is the time to start over (before the clear coat).

Heck I screwed up the first time on mine (I went too thick too quickly, and it ran) Took it inside and scrapped the tint off with a rough kitchen sponge (wife loved it, lol) and let it dry, then started over.

I think i went with around three coats of tint and three coats of clear.

Between my first try screw up and the three coats, I killed the can of tint.

And I painted the outside.

Like I said man, Nightshades is the way to go. It goes on very thin and is almost impossible to screw up.

I am guessing they are all about the same, and Hobby Lobby stocks the one I used. (I hate waiting on the mail, lol)

And the hardest part about painting with a transparent paint is that it is, well, transparent! All your mess ups are easily visible.

But I am very happy with mine and have already ran it through my fav automatic (and "Raptor-friendly") car wash and the brake light looks just as good.

Update! After a few months and car washes we got heavy rain this past week. My tint is starting to chip. I will remove everything and retry with nightshades. Thanks again for the write up.

No. That was with the Model Masters tint.

There's no way to get to the inside. Well there might be. But that would involve pulling the back off the brake Light and resealing them.

Nightshades says in the instructions to only apply to outside, why Im not sure but they are very specific about it.

Mine has not chipped at all but its definitely faded on the top.

Damn man that sucks.
I had a guy do mine and its been on for a year now with no chipping or fading.
Still like new. He added some Black to Automotive clear and sprayed them twice then added a clear coat over that.
Then they were buffed. Seriously they're still like new.
