CA Emissions

Here is the deal, if it is a CARB state you can get CA emissions, if it is a NON CARB state YOU CANT!!! I didn't make the **** up and i don't know why?

I just know that is how it works?

CARB STATES;
CA, Arizona, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington, as well as the District of Columbia.

I also know that some of the surrounding states that are connected to a CARB state can also sell CA emissions but only some of the dealers. Why i dont know?

Look Im not trying to be a @ss, I would luv to place an order with 20 allocations i have found in the last two or three months, but instead the dealers are telling they cant do it and i pass on the info for someone to make there day!

If you find some other way of placing the order for CA emissions in a none CARB state please let me know as you would be my Superman, as for now not so much.

this info is off the CARB website;

California has the strictest air quality standards in the nation, so most manufacturers build their vehicles to meet its regulations. Fourteen other states, plus the District of Columbia, adopted the standards set by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Buying a car in any of those states means it will pass the requirements of all 50 states. However, some cars are still made only to be sold in non-CARB states. If you bought a new car in a non-CARB state, you might not be allowed to register it in a CARB state.

The states adopting CARB standards include Arizona, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington, as well as the District of Columbia.

:beatdeadhorse5:

I understand where you're coming from but here's the problem I see with that. That would allow CA dealers to sell anywhere but wouldn't allow certain dealers to sell to CA. There is no way that would be possible. With the franchise agreements every dealer has equal opportunity. If you are 10 miles from the plant you still pay the same price for shipping as a dealer 200 miles away. If you sell 10 cars a month or 1,000 cars a month your cost is still exactly the same for units.

So there is no way CA dealers would be allowed to sell anywhere yet certain dealers not be allowed to sell in CA.

Hey Darin, believe me in right, i totally wish your way of thinking was at Ford Headquarters! Now that being said, Welcome to California and the Bull **** that comes along with it!

Hey anyone know Trump? Tell him so we can get this BS fixed in Cali. :crazy:

So it won't let you order a retail unit with CA emissions?

So a CA dealer can sell in your state but you can't sell in theirs? Have you contacted your Ford rep about that? I just can't believe that's the case. Our reps are out until Jan 2nd. I'll have to contact her when shes back and get confirmation on that. I just can't believe that's the case.

Darin i have seen this same thing already 10 times, same error not letting them order! Sucks :supergay:

That is correct. I cannot order stock or retail with CA EMISSIONS

I just can't believe knowing some of the crap we've dealt with regarding franchise rules that CA dealers can sell to other states but some states can't sell to CA.

I'm going to try and get an explanation from my rep when she gets back from vacation.

COMPLETE BS!

I know your explanations already, please don't tell me again, thanks

I would if it would do any good. Hell she can't even get me help and I've sold cars for Ford for 30 years. The reps for the dealers are pretty much just puppets.

Hopefully soon you'll get a vin and schedule date. You may end up lucky with a later build that it gets built, shipped and delivered without these ridiculous delays.

Found some new info. Ford Performance confirmed that all 2017 F150s are 50 state emissions. No difference in the tune or the emission equipment in the truck. My dealer went on the lot and looked under the hood of a 2017 fx4 3.5. It displays in ETIS as 49 state emissions. It has the full CA emissions sticker under the hood.

I heard the same thing before they even started building them, its the sticker that lets your register it in CA. So if it has the sticker your good to go!

if the dealer doesn't select the CA emissions on the build it wont have the sticker.

Thats not true. My dealer checked under the hood of a 2017 f150 3.5 today. I ran the vin in ETIS, it was a 49 state emission build. Under the hood he found the CA emissions sticker. My dealer did a test and tried to order a truck with CA emissions and it gave him the error posted earlier. He cant get anything but 49 state emission trucks but his lot has CA emission stickers under the hoods.Ford Performance, Ford Service and owner.ford chats said the same thing. All 2017 f150s are 50 state Ca emissions now. It may come up different in ETIS but the trucks are the same. Ford Performance also confirmed that the maps and emissions equipment are exactly the same now on 50 state vs 49 state builds.

If anyone has a 49 state build truck and could post the CA emissions sticker under the hood that would be great.
