from the problems you had on install, and the iffy quality it seems to have, and questionable longevity, for a few hundred more bucks, could have gotten a bakflip from Morrie.

I guess. I really don't need such a good cover, though. Just something that will keep my stuff out of the weather.

Maybe I just got one of a bad batch or something. But I'll keep this thread updated on the issue.

Ok guys, figured I'd give this an update.

This weekend I will be an oil change just before the 1,000 mi point. This will be the first oil change I've ever done, so tips will be appreciated. I am getting the Ford Racing fuel filter and switching to Mobil 1 Synthetic (not sure about synthetic yet). I know I need to get an oil filter wrench. So I've been reading on how to tackle this.
1. Remove skid plate
2. Unscrew drain plug and let oil drip out
3. Remove oil filter and replace with new one
4. Rescrew drain plug and add 7 qts of oil

Any ideas on what I do with the old oil?

Also, installing my DDM Tuning 5,000K 55W headlights.

Lastly, installing gorilla wheel locks. I can't wait! :peace:

Wear gloves for all of this. Drain your oil first. Then unscrew the oil filter. After it's all drained and you have the old filter off take your finger and dip it in some of the old oil and run it around the rubber seal of the new filter. Then screw in the new filter. Take your time and be careful not to strip it. Put it on hand tight as tight as you can. DO NOT use your oil filter wrench to tighten it. Once that's done, pour in your new oil and you're good to go.

As far as disposing of the oil, I use this oil drain pan and then take it either to Wal-Mart (where's it's free to dispose of in their Tire & Lube department or to my cousin's mechanic shop if he's open).

Amazon.com: Blitz 11838 Oil Drain Pan - 15 Quart: Automotive

Also, let it run for a few minutes after you change the oil. I always run it for about 5 minutes.

Hope this helps.

Just use that old oil as weed control along the neighbor's fence and whatnot.

Thanks, etalian! Is it bad to have the oil touch your skin or something?

Madcowranch, is that what you're feeding your cows on that farm?

Thanks guys. One more question... is it necessary that I change the oil filter out? It's not even 1,000 miles yet but I'm doing the oil change because that seems to be the recommended first oil change from most guys here.
