How well did the frame hold up your first winter?

I'm in salty Pa and my frame still looks great after 13 months. I did paint rear axle because of surface rust. I'm always cleaning the salt from under my vehicles. Is there any way to blow up all the salt trucks, hate those bastards!

We have brine sprayed on our roads. That stuff devours all metals and tears up the roads too. At the end of winter, you need 4L to get out of some of the pot holes lol

Surprisingly, the Ford frame paint holds up well. Eventually I’ll paint or Corroseal the bare metal.

Not sure if they do that in PA or anywhere else in the US.

I am in NE Ohio and I have been getting mine Krown Sprayed annually since new. $149 a year and they guarantee that the frame will not rust through.

They brine and salt before during and after snow here. I hate it so bad, wish they could find something else to use.

Going into my 2nd winter in MA but only saw the tail end last year (mid feb 2019 purchase) - however it’s gotten a total of 8.5 cans worth of Amsoil HDMP on the frame/undercarriage @ this point - first 5 were during initial application this spring I also painted rear diff/axles w/ rustoleoum gloss black then when I had my snow tires mounted couple weeks ago gave the whole thing a touch up w/ another 3.5 cans & im pretty sure that’s it’s now a “semi-permanent” coating that should protect from rust for the next 5-6 years of ownership. I’ll still touch it up
W/ a can every spring most likely just b/c it also goes back to a nice black/coated look

I live on Long Island I Have a 2018 Raptor had it for one winter so far.... I definitely seen rust spots on my frame ....
I’m gonna spray it with Fluid film before this winter...
My rear axle had a lot of rust on it ,I just painted it last weekend
But I also Drive the truck on the beach in the summer

In NYC and my 18 had allot of rust on frame when traded in for 19 I used 4 cans of Amasol HDMP will let you know after this winter

Michigan here. Put 69k on my ‘17 before trading it in. I don’t think the frame was too bad, but the other items people see a lot of rust on were rusty (axles, rear axle housing etc.).

The frames are just straight e-coated and not painted. E-coating does a great job of getting in all the crevasses and such, but it’s quite thin (~0.5 mils), where powered coating is typically 2-4mils. So best bet would be to apply something else to it if you’re concerned.

I just hosed my bump stop kit and Icon leafs down with MPHD. I didn’t do that to my last bsk or leafs and they were atrocious after one winter.

It is 2019. Like all my cars for the last 30 years, i have not thought twice about winter rust. Especially since i dont drive cheap cars. Never had an issue.
