Oh, one other thing. The Ford touch-up paint should still be a lacquer, most OEM touch up is. If you try a repair or screw up and want to start over, you can always take lacquer thinner and wipe off the repair paint back to how it is now. Lacquer thinner will easily remove lacquer paint after it dries. Lacquer thinner will generally not harm OEM two part paint with short exposure. You should try the lacquer thinner on a test area to be certain. I have not had a problem on OEM paint.
Some of the above comments tend to be correct, however, if you are careful, you may find that the repair is satisfactory that nobody will ever see. If it is not good enough, then repaint the whole tailgate.
