How much longer is a Raptor than a traditional SUV?

I have a SCAB. It's almost exactly the same wheel base as the Yukon Denali XL we used to drive and about the same overall length. It fits fine in my standard developer house garage.

Thanks to everyone for their responses.

I definitely want to get one, but decided that I am going to wait until 2016 to get the new model Raptor.

Thanks again for all the responses, enjoy your bad ass trucks.

Hope you can actually get one in 2016. Been throughout the boroughs and your biggest challenge will be parking in Manhattan. Pretty much only street parking and because of size I am most comfortable on the Avenues.

Bear in mind there may not be a next gen raptor.

I was under the impression that it was confirmed to be returning. There is a thread on this forum from last July which linked this article about it.

Ford F-150 SVT Raptor to return in 2016 | SVTUSA

Thank you for letting me know the difficulties. That is another part of the reason it makes sense for me to wait until 2016. If I wait until 2016, I'll have my current car paid off and then I'll be able to have both. I can just use the sedan for places with difficult parking.

Do you regret getting a Raptor for driving in the 5 boroughs at all?

Those aren't an SUV, they're a bus Ford stopped building 10 years ago :slap: lol

And everyone that ever owned one, misses it. I still wish I had not sold my 2001. It was the ultimate people mover, and was pristine with a 7.3 diesel.

That article is just a rumor. ford has not confirmed a next generation raptor yet.

I don't have to do it often other than driving my daughter back to upper eastside and to home neighborhood in the Bronx and maybe LaGuardia for work flights.

To be clear - NOTHING would make me regret getting the Raptor!!!! You have never experienced a drive quite like it!!

.....not to mention even the taxis think twice about cutting you off in NYC :badidea:

I'm sorry guys but I have my doubts. Didn't the lightning run for only one body style? I think the Raptor will be the same way.

Another consideration in big-city driving (or anywhere) besides the obvious dimensions of the "box on wheels", is the placement of the axles vs those on the SUV's. The shorter that distance, the easier the vehicle will maneuver corners and get around obstacles.

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to this comparison question but since it's a 4x vehicle, I have to assume it might be better (hopefully) than some of the larger SUV's. If it has a relative short wheel base, a driver can get around the city (or rocks) better than you would think.

Maybe somebody has the numbers on this?

Lightning was 93-95, then 99-2004

I agree, might be a long hiatus if there even is another one. It's not exactly a priority for ford.
