How much light is enough light?

I am wanting to do a raptor run and want to have enough light for the night runs. I have HID's in the factory headlights and they are not nearly as good as my chevy's were.

How much light is enough? I'm thinking in lumens but maybe that is not the right way to think about it.

Obviously the more the better, but I do have a budget.

I do have an understanding of the beam pattern.

Check out Baja design onx line. Call or email them for a forum discount. They are very kind to us frfers and can work out what you need. I run two bd squadrons up front with a 30" onx bar in a spread/spot/spot/spread config and it worked great in Baja. Think about a rear facing amber light (cheap hella is fine) to cut through dust behind you for fellow drivers as well. Good luck.

also its not so much lumens, as it is delivered light. just because a light has a ton of lumens, the question is, how much of that light is useful?

I dont mean any disrespect, but I have found you get what you pay for. I dont mind paying a little more for peace of mind. Maybe not a LOT more, but oh well

I have no regret on my bumper mounted rigid 40. I dream of adding an onyx roof mount after night runs in Wyoming, but that is really low on my budget priority now. Finish suspension, then header/exhaust. then skids/sliders. Stay on target

None taken, and I try and follow the same rules, but with that said I do know of a few race trucks running the China made lights and there still working. So IMO they would work for most Raptor's as they likely won't see the same abuse as a race truck.

another important point to make is that lots of light up high is a must. for example a roof light mount or a chase rack. you can have a lot of light mounted on your bumper or hood but it's going to cast shadows and won't illuminate the big dips off in the distance as well....

Stock bumper, throw a VisionX in the lower grill and a couple of hood mounted lights and you'll be pretty much fine for a Raptor Run.
