Yeah our winters suck. Damn salt and brine is the worst. I hate rust in the worst way.

These new rangers are a big change but I like it. I too did a 2 year lease to see how much I would like it. I was a bit nervous about being so small but it has been a great little truck for me. There are a handful of things I would like to see changed but nothing that would keep me from getting another one. Being a lease I am leaving it stock. We'll see what the Ford pickup line looks like in two years.

I really like the smaller Broncos too. I know there are some that don't. My neighbor has one that I keep bugging him about selling to me but he won't bite just yet. 302 would make for a fun little ride.

I have the 14 Screw 38k and love it.
Hope to keep it as long as possible!!!
I think salt on the roads is my worry.
I did the NH undercoating (in clear)
And it’s great so far.
Give feedback in spring. Lol

The other problem is it’s a magnet for other cars parking in an empty lot!!!

I think you all have the right idea getting another vehicle to keep miles off your trucks and keep them out of the elements. I'm moving cross country next month and then at some point during the summer I'm looking at buying a C5 Corvette to keep some miles off the Raptor for daily driving.

....then again I could be deployed again this summer so who knows?!

I got a 2011 with 209,645 on the odometer and planning on keeping it forever. currently putting together a parts list for a 5.0 swap in the fall/winter of this year, unless i get lazy, then ill just put a hold on the swap until motor or trans go. i worry more about the truck rusting than anything else. salt on the road here in Chicago land area sucks. i have minor rust starting on the rockers and under the truck, i plan on doing a heavy underside detail in the spring once they done throwing salt. Moving to Nashville 2021, cant wait to not have to deal with the salt.

Mine not a DD anymore so it never sees salt. Maybe some salt dust on the paint when it's dry out and the huge after-storm salt clouds are blowing around, but never again will I drive my nice full size truck through hour long salt water baths. The salt ate my last truck. It had another 100K miles in it easy, but the body was shot. I'm not doing that again. Still gotta sacrifice something to the salt, but it's not going to be my truck this time!

In regards to rust - 04-08 F150s had a big problem with cab corners rusting due to the sunroof drain basically being pointed right at it on the inside. Does anyone know where the sunroof drain ends up on gen 1's? I have nightmares of going out to my old pristine 05 FX4 and seeing paint bubbling on the cab corners.

the rust issue in many of the raptors is the 3rd brakelight developing a leak and water then sits in the cab corners.

Curious why a 5.0 swap when you can just drop another 6.2 in it for less?

I'm curious why a 5.0 swap also. Like Vegas carnet said. You can get a new 6.2L very reasonably priced or just rebuild the engine as i plan on doing so that way it is still a Number Matching
