just drive down most of the roads around here, and you'll hit a pot hole that's going to do the same thing.

I've already got scratches on my skid plate from some very moderate offroading. Does this mean I should replace it in case I bend my frame and the dealer takes a look under the truck?

It all depends on the dealership, some will use anything to get out of a warrantee job while others want think twice about it. Similar to the mod friendly and non-mod friendly dealerships with the Lightning and Mustang guys.

hes ford said anything regarding this topic hinted at a fix or an investigation or anything to let us know they are aware and looking into this before it gets out of control.

It's my understanding some if not all of the original guys with bent frames are talking with their prospective dealers about it...maybe even an engineer.

i did my damage months ago and have thought that it was just a bed alignment issue. Now i know it's not. so I don't know what I'm going to do. I just know it's going to do me no good to take it to the dealer.

If they tell me that it needs to be fixed, then it should be interesting since the frame can't be "straightened" due to liability issues from an accident, so that means a frame replacement, which my insurance company is going to total the vehicle. which might be the best thing, since that would mean a new Raptor in silver!

I did a rough math on replacing the frame and came up with 5,000.00-6,000.00.

Raptor frame is modular and the rear section runs 1700.00 and the book shows 38-39 hrs replacing entire frame. I figure about 60.00/hr shop rate.

Now one of the guys with a bent frame was talking something about his Ford dealership fixing the issue for 800.00...not sure how that works seeing how you shouldn't try and fix it once bent.

OH GOOD GOD, are you kidding me? the location of the bump-stop is ridiculous on this truck. to me it's more of a safety concern over anything else. I can't believe anyone would put anything that is "designed" to take an impact of any means in the middle of a crumple zone. that's just retarded in my opinion. and screw the warranty it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. I can just imagine this nice family riding down the road with their camper on the hitch and then they hit a bump in the road which bends the frame and then on their way back through colorado the frame then twist because it's been damaged already and it has a catastrophic failure. Family goes off the cliff and die's. Now THAT is not a driver problem that's a ford new about a problem and didn't fix it or let anyone know problem. Result = Millions paid out to grieving family, and a recall.

Ummm, no, I'm not kidding.....You need to re-read my post, I did not say the bump stop location, I was speaking of the crumple zone.......and even said that YES, the bumpstop design could be better. And while you're playing out catastrophic failures due to the evil, family hating designs from Ford, consider the weight ratings of the Raptor, towing and payload.......did this family exceed the ratings? If so, then I'm sorry, it's NOT Ford's fault. If they are within specs, then.......wait for it........DRIVING STYLE needs to be in accordance with the situation!!!!!!!!!

See from what I can tell you FORD is not even saying what the limitations of the thing are my friend. Regardless if it's a bad design or a faulty design FORD will not fix it. Just like they will not fix a broken shock mount. The company itself will not take responsibility for the damage done.

I know this and i'm not complaining about it. I have accepted that FORD doesn't stand behind these kinds of things. That's fine.

I will figure out a way to fix it myself, because FORD won't tell me how to do it other than "Replace the frame".

It's not my fault the company is the way it is, i just like others have to deal with it after the fact.

It's not your fault, it's not my fault.

Agreed and I addressed your concerns with warranty issues in an earlier post in this thread. I thought the dealer ended up telling you that they would fix your shock mount under warranty?
