It almost looks like the fender is ok. If it’s just a bumper and possibly some suspension parts like a bent outer tie rod I would just do it myself! I’m with you I hate going through insurance unless I really have to. If you don’t feel confident inspecting you could take it to a shop you trust and have them inspect it and then decide if it’s something you want to tackle or not.

also careful with body shops as they will over quote.

First - Glad you’re ok. 2nd- keep the skid plate if you stay stock, now it looks legit ;-)
once you’re all repaired, slap the deer slaying skid plate on and you’ll have that urban look :)

+1 on handing over to insurance at this point. It looks like a pretty hard hit.

Sorry for your truck! Glad you are safe.

Hitting a deer should be a Comprehensive claim not Collision. Generally your insurance rates are not impacted by a Comp claim.

I would let the insurance company handle it. I don't like filing claims as well if it's under a reasonable amount.

Good luck with your truck!

Hopefully this will be my last deer strike. I live in Florida, but went to Mississippi for the holiday.

I live in Mississippi and have a bolt on bumper guard I bought from the Raptor training folks in Utah for exactly this reason.

Luckily haven’t had to test it.

Will try to reduce the Deer Population by one Tuesday.

I hit a deer (7K damage - Mercedes), and it was covered under Comprehensive (State Farm); no change in premiums.

I agree with retired insurance adjuster.... its at least 5K. As a consultant to body shops, I will say this... pick a shop that is Ford Aluminum certified. Pick a shop that will work with the dealer to ensure all of your advanced vehicle systems are operating correctly. Last, I tend to tell people to use shops that are on your insurance companies Direct Repair Preferred list.. then the repairs are guaranteed, no matter where you are.
