Had my first opportunity to try out the hill descent mode today. Is it normal for it to make groaning/scraping noises? It worked great but the sound was hideous.
wow, i didnt know anyone actually used it. i have never tried it, but i dont think it should make a lot of noise. its just cruise control with brakes isnt it?
That's how mine sounds. Kind of like the ABS is engaging to keep you slow. I have usually been on dry soft stuff so I just assumed it was abs engaging.
Used mine several times and it makes that noise. I wouldn't describe it as hideous but there is definitely noise. Works fantastic though, I've descended some super steep terrain.
Ya I had the chance to use it at the last havic meet wow what a great tool! Normally I would not be able to sip my beer while going down such a large grade hill without spilling at least a small amount but with the no-spill decent button shit I could sip anything and never spill a drop!!!
Ya it makes some noise but its normal sounds.
I wouldn't say that I "needed" to use the hill descent mode, but it was a nice opportunity to try it out. I'd say that it works pretty damn good.
It was a steep hill with a lot of loose rock. I could feel it control each brake independently for max traction. Something you manly tough guys can't do with the pedal.
HDC works fantastic. Its overkill for 99% of the things you will even encounter. But a steep, downgrage, on loose mud, and rock, with dips in the terrain, you will be begging to use it. Just look on YouTube at whats happens when wheels lock going downhill. HDC will never lock the wheels
Yes mine makes loud grinding and scraping type noises as does my friends. Seems normal. The first time I heard it I was really worried but my friends does it also. I have used it several times and it always works perfectly despite the horrendous noise.
