GEN 2 Help!

OT: I just had a TPMS sensor go out at 2 yes old and 59k mi. Dealer quoted me $135 for an OEM one, so I took it to a Off-road shop where they did it for $60 I think the brand was Bogart or something like that.

If it needs programmed, a shop will probably have to do it. The tool needed is more expensive than an average user will want to pay for limited use. The item you showed is really just to get the truck to recognize the sensor, it doesn't actually program anything.

How about this one? I just now used it for the first time on my wife's 18 Escalade, she got a new set of wheels/tires/sensors for Xmas. Tires showed up mounted and balanced, but truck wouldn't recognize sensors. It worked fine once the truck was put into tpms programming via the dash display and I put the programmer next to each tire.

So found out there are two frequencies for my 2017. 315mhz and 433mhz. The ones I bought were 315mhz and old sensor too damaged to tell what it is but by process of elimination has to be 433mhz. Also found out as said above the aftermarket sensors sold by tire shops can be programmed (special tpms programmer) to whatever frequency is needed and that's why they don't run into any problems like I did.

The above ford sensor programmer pictured only works to tell the truck the sensor is there and to recognize it but the Ford Motorcraft ones come hardwired to the frequency listed and can't be reprogrammed. So I have to either buy Motorcraft 433mhz tpms or get an aftermarket programmable to 433mhz. Lots of lessons learned but hey we learn by trial and error. Lol
