Only things I could think of is that the belt is not routed correctly or the hoses are backwards or you have water in the system.

Pressure relief valve in the PS pump took a shit causing over pressure and then the pump let loose causing pump to seize and shear shaft.

Yeah, they are painted. Just need to fabricate some sort of splash shield. I trimmed down the factory ones but I still need to clearance the pinch welds and make better splash shields before I throw new rubber on her
