So, I did an early oil change today and I noticed cherry red fluid where the transmission connects to the driveshaft. I though it was grease at first, but I touched it and it was definitely fluid. Not enough to drip or be seen without being underneath the truck. Is this normal or is this a sign that my truck is affected by what's described in the recent TSB? Didn't see any signs of fluid anywhere else.

Since the Raptor is a 4x4 the transmission does not directly connect to either front or rear drive shaft, the Transfer case does. The TSB that JD posted up is for the transmission pump which is located towards the front of the transmission; opposite side of the Transfer case/Driveshafts.

Vash, is it the rear drive shaft that had the leak? If so, at any time did your truck get a new drive shaft or greased slip yoke? If so then the fluid you see is probably residual, left over from when shaft was removed & replaced. If it hasn't been out and it has a leak, then your Transfer case output shaft seal is probably faulty.

You are absolutely correct, pirate air. I must've had a brain fart. Too used to 2wd I guess. I think I just saw the cherry red fluid and my mind immediately defaulted to transmission. Dropped off the truck at the dealership yesterday morning and they replaced the t-case output shaft seal. As always, thank you for the info and clarification.

After picking up the truck and driving it the short distance home I immediately went under it with the creeper and verified that the front of the driveshaft and yoke were dry.

My truck is a fairly recent build and I've been underneath it to verify that it does indeed have the latest "BC" driveshaft and yoke combo. No clunking so far with about 1800 miles on it. Knock on wood.

Now, I just need to check the t-case fluid level to make sure they topped it off. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't, but never hurts to double-check that kind of thing since it's so easy to do.

good deal for you. Sorry I also didn't read your post carefully. Yes mine was leaking from the front. As an update dealer gave me the printout for the tsb posted above. Got my truck back to El Paso on my own and the Ford dealership here is waiting to evaluate it. There transmission guy is backed up for weeks with work so they are going to call me when he gets to it.

****** ford has so many tranny probs, and i have to wait so long to drive my brand new friggin truck. dealer in Az was going thru the same problem. Told me he has so many tranny probs they can't keep up. At least it gives me some time to put my new bumpers and lights on. Still haven't heard from the Texas Ford territory rep that is supposed to be calling me for my rental etc.

mine has been leaking with 425 miles since day one.. and I just noticed it the other day. Thought it was my other cars on the drive way.

Who would have thought. I heard Ford might make a few payments

Yea I have owned a Raptor for how many months now????? People ask me if I like it. I just tell em I wouldn't know cuz the POS has been in service ever since I bought it, lol. Hopefully will get it back soon. At least its getting a couple recalls fixed at the same time. My friend that just sold his Ford dealership for like 18 million went out and bought two new cars for his family. Guess what he bought. Toyotas! LOL Asked him WTf he said "I dont work for Ford anymore sure as hell wouldn't buy one." Anyways half joking aside cant wait to get it back just cuz I put so much money into it.
