I climbed under there yesterday and took some pics.

This shows the extra support that I asked them to add in.

Also had the resonator tube supported at the end.

Can you correct the thread title to Helmholtz Resonator?
You could probably even merge it with the other thread I just posted my pics in.
Thanks!

This realy does work. Running Stainless Work exhaust had drone from 50-68 pretty bad. Dam should have had this done when I had the exhaust installed.
Thank you for your post
realy helped with the dam drone.

which length resonator did you get? I grabbed the 24" hoping this was the right one. trying to get american racing headers to do the install for me. i have the exact same setup.

I have had the HelmHoltz resonator for about 6-8 months now. It truly does work.

I had a small town garage shop owner do mine as well. He suggested get as far up front as possible. So he placed it above the borla resonator.

To be honest I have seen many different configurations on FRF and all "seem" to work.

ARH long tubes high flo cats
Borla touring
HelmHoltz

**Hope the pics help**

Yes it is. The hour drive home I could actually talk to RW over the radio. I even drove with the radio to enjoy the silence. Lol....

This morning's phone call was a rough one. The guy didn't want to do it, then he quoted me another $125 or come get your truck. I wasn't to happy, but I also knew he could do it and the shops I'd been to before wouldn't.

I picked it up a just now and checked it all over. Looked good. Measurements where right. So I went in to pay the guy and he said no charge. I didn't think that was completely fair so I still gave him some money.

The drive home was enjoyable. The low end braaapp braaapp blub blub blub was still there. Maybe a tick softer but not nearly as quiet with those resonators he made on there.

For anyone looking for a no drone fix, take that drawing I posted too a custom exhaust shop and see if they will build you one. It will put a smile on your face when you're done.

Thanks for the insight. I am stoked to get one of these pipes when I upgrade to full exhaust upgrade. My question that come to mind, is the sound of the exhaust quieter now or is just as loud without drone? like equal to simply putting in a resonator ? which is a drone killer but is also a sound killer. quieting the whole reason we love to upgrade .

a helmholtz resonator only cancels out the frequency that it is tuned to cancel out. At full throttle all the rest of the frequencies become just as loud as they did before the helmholtz resonator.

According to a DB meter a helmholtz resonator does nothing to quiet down and exhaust system

According to the human ear, each is tuned differently and some guys will hear it as quieter because the long, deep wavelength is gone.

I think you will be fine with the 24" resonator. I can't remember for sure my exact length. Remember I have 5.13 gearing so that went in to the calculation as well. I will try and take a measurement sometime this weekend when I get back.

One last question...did they put a support strap to hold up resonator?

No sir they did not. I never off road and have never had any issues. If you go off road a bit, might not be a bad idea. It would be cheap insurance.

I did take the borla resonator out recently and added a custom straight pipe, OMG the sound is AMAZING! However, if I did not have all the sound deadening done as well, I might not have liked the sound as much.

So was the drone still gone once you installed the straight pipe?

I had once made a straight pipe for the system and it sounded great...except once agin for the drone I took it off. I'm assuming sound deadening your meaning inner cab stuff?
