Is it possible to add a heated steering wheel option to a '23 801a raptor that came from the factory without one? I have done some research but cannot find any information relating to adding a heated wheel to a truck that didn't originally have the option. I talked with 2 local dealerships about the free replacement program for the '23 that came without the heated wheel due to supply shortages. One dealership just cast me off and the other said that my vehicle's vin was not included in the program. I understand that although it is frustrating. I went on to ask if it was possible to buy the necessary parts and have the truck converted. The service advisor said I would have to buy a new truck in order to get a heated wheel. Is this true? There is no way to retrofit the sccm, hvac control module and heated wheel to get the function on my truck? Any tips or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance and yes I know I can just get a pair of gloves.

Cheers.

This can be done. You need the right HVAC control part, the right clock spring to be installed and FORSCAN to make the software changes. You have to take apart trim pieces, take the steering wheel off and put it all back together with the correct parts.

Search the forum. All the part numbers and instructions are out there.

Yes. 100%. I had it done to my 23.

You need to get the upgrades SCCM with the digital temps on the knobs, a new clock spring and for scan if you're going to do it yourself.

I paid the dealer to do it.

I posted the RO some time ago. I'll look for it.

If you're going to do it yourself, read that whole thread. You need to use for scan to download the settings and then use it to program the new SCCM. If you just swap parts, it's not going to work.

You don't need a new wheel. The heating element is in the one you have. If someone says you need one, they are morons.

Found it
Did your truck come with a steering wheel that was ready to accept all the other parts to make the heating function work or did you purchase a new steering wheel as well?

Lack of a heated steering wheel for my precious hands is an absolute deal breaker. I would not buy a vehicle without one.

As for the parts you need, including the dashboard controls with the temp digits in the knobs, look on ebay. Many here, including me, got one for 250-300. Just be sure it's the right one as many look alike.
