Can someone here explain to me how our heated seats work...I have a 12 with heat/cooled seats and the damn things don't heat up worth a crap...when the truck is cold and I hit the heat seat button I can hear the little blower below seat turn on then off..the dang seats won't warm up till the truck warms up enough to turn the normal heat blower on, then it seems that the seats will finally start warming up slowly...now I had the dealer check them and they said their working fine but if they are they sure suck...they told me that is uses the cab heat and turns on the blower below seat to warm up...we'll whats the point of that???so does anyone on here know for sure how they work, do they have heat coils in the seat or does it really use the cab heater to blow heat through seat...seems like a silly concept if that's the case..my wife's car seats get hot as he'll in 3 minutes and my seats don't warm up till the heater is actually running, we'll by that time it's already warm in the truck kinda defeating the purpose of the heated seat...

cooled seats in a 2012??? didnt know it was available.

the seat hearing element is a pad, much like an electric blanket. it has thin wires inside the material that heat up. all heating elements are very similiar in design. we have replaces several of them for local dealerships.

huh. i thought i was 13+ option. guess i was wrong.

i would check the dealer and see if the seat heater is under warranty, or get a direct replacement. since the heating system is data, it would be a pain to get it replaced with aftermarket

Sparky,
Like Nobusa said, the heating elements are under the leather seat covers. There is no blower. The elements are wires woven into a cloth that acts exactly like an electric blanket. All it takes is one of the wires to break/burn out and no more heat. If you search there are several threads on replacing the heating elements.

It's hot as hell in a matter of minutes. Are the red lights on the switch's lighting up?

I think the blower is for the A/C portion.

lol! you asked in your original post how our seats work then tell Ditchplains when he explains that you know how the seats work.

My seats heat up really fast. A minute or two for sure.

2012+ models with heated/cooled seats use a blower for both heating and cooling of the seats. There was a post back when the 12's first started coming out about the ducts for the blower not fitting snugly which caused a lot of leakage and someone snugged and sealed them up which made then a lot more effective. My guess is the cab temp really affects the output of the seats as well since they're probably only capable of raising the temp so many degrees and when the cab is cold it may only raise it to a lukewarm temp.
