Having high beam switch control

Would like to have Baja Designs Pro or Unlimited setup in the fog cutouts. Plan would be to add an additional 61-3606 55" splitter so each L/R pair has individual control from 1 of 3 upfitter switches...so I can vary which lights are on based on driving needs. Based on which switches are in the ON position I would then like the high beam selection to activate or deactivate the selected lights. I know some did this on GEN2 2017's (?? I think I remember reading about someone ??) but had heard maybe there was some issue on the 2018's due to bulb sensing or something?? Seems like a simple request. Anyone done it? or can shed some light onto how best to wire it? Is it just putting in a simple relay? relays? Much appreciated.

No difference between 17/18 that I know of except reports that the wires are different colors. And yes a relay for each set you want control over with high beams.

Thanks. Yeah I've got this for new colors on upfitter switches:

2018 Colors
Aux 1 - Green/White - 15A
Aux 2 - Brown/Blue - 15A
Aux 3 - Gray/Yellow - 10A
Aux 4 - Green/Yellow - 10A
Aux 5 - Brown/White - 5A
Aux 6 - Green/Orange - 5A

I believe you need to wire in a relay so that when your headlights turn on, they send a trigger to the relay, which will send power to your lights... you'd also want to probably run the upfitter switch to that same relay trigger so either one turns them on. However if you do that activatnig the upfitter will technically apply positive voltage over to the headlight line. So you will probably want to install a diode so that the voltage doesn't go backwards.

Power the relay with the upfitter. Trigger the relay with a splice from the high beam wire.

Most of my lights are set up like this.

You could run into issues doing that... your upfitter is sending positive voltage to the relay trigger... you are also splicing the headlight high beam wire (positive) to the relay trigger as well (so when headlights on it triggers the relay)... so in doing so you technically are now powering up that headlight positive line and you COULD activate your high beam unknowingly that way. Using a diode will prevent the power from going back to the headlight. I'd highly recommend using the diode.

I set mine up with two relays and three diodes so one upfitter switch would turn on all my forward facing lights when the high beam is on. It works great with the auto-dimming lights. I used three diodes so I wouldn't backfeed my individually switched lights.

This is theoretically impossible with a SPST...is it not?
The relay itself is grounded, and the circuits are separate. the trigger circuit is simply actuating a solenoid that closes the power circuit which could be from the upfitter or direct power from the fuse block or battery...whatever you choose.
The only time I see diodes being necessary is if you start goofing with DPST or DPDT relays.

EDIT:
I just re-read your post and I believe you misunderstood me.
I am not saying power the relay with the battery and then use both the upfitter and the high-beam to trigger.
The upfitter is already powered (and wired/fused for a certain amperage).
Use the upfitter to POWER the relay, and the high-beam to TRIGGER the relay.

Yes... and since you know me (kinda) you need to use the high beam wire from either headlight harness as a trigger..... that being said the driver side requires more wire and routing but is easier to access and the passenger side is better because it's closer to the components you are installing but it's definitely harder to access the wire... but either way the trigger works the same and will all work with auto high beams
