Has the passive Ford anti-theft ever been defeated?

Loud pipes save lives - always been a biker slogan - but also applies to security for your wheels.
Unless they show up with a flatbed... My alarm's got a kill switch for tow trucks though, so they may take it, but wiill have a lot of work to do in getting it running...

So has anyone had their Raptor stolen in this way? I'm trying to decide whether I need an alarm along with a Club and the PATS or just some sort of fuel or electrical cut-off device with the Club and PATS. I'm leaning toward the cutoff device scenario. Thanks!

I lean towards full-coverage insurance with a reputable carrier as the best 'anti-theft' device.

If someone wants to steal your truck, no amount of clubs, alarms, hidden switches or other anti-theft crap is going to prevent it. None of those things defeat a tow truck, which is what the sophisticated players use. Then they take it to a comfortable location where they can take their time in defeating your anti-theft stuff.

You know these Raptors are limited production, and won't be built for much longer for the 2011 MY cycle. 2012 has yet to be anounced ??? So just being proactive for you...........

The way I see it they are three basic types of car thieves.

#1 the smash and grab car prowling punks that will take whatever they can see. Best defense, leave nothing in your truck to attract attention.

#2 Opportunist. Keys left in the truck, open door or window, left running, etc. Likely would try a different rig if yours is locked. Defense, lock your truck and close the windows.

#3 The Pro's. Here you are screwed. If your truck has been targeted they will get it. The use of roll backs is common as is paying off a dealer service employee. By morning she will be south of the boarder or in a shipping container headed overseas. Best Defense, garage and good insurance.

It is interesting to me that no one has demonstrated that the PATS of the Raptor can be defeated on the street without sophisticated computer machinery? So, in this case maybe the Lojac is a better way to spend my money than the Ravelco (which sort of duplicates the PATS)? It looks like the only other thing one can do for tow truck theft is to park the truck back end first. A tow truck ain't quiet and dragging an 6000 pound truck with it's rear wheels locked on to a flat bed ain't quiet either so if I hear them, I'll stop them. If all else fails I do have good insurance - at those prices it better be - and I'll have Lojac to have a chance to find the truck. The console vault will protect items from the smash and grabbers and the Club will hopefully visually put off the joyriders. Also the tailgate locking collar will stop folks from walking off with my gate when I forget to lock it with a key. That's all about anyone can do without a viable garage.

PATS is good until you give up control of your keys. All it takes is one person at a dealer to burn a key and pass it to the bad guys. The have access to your keys as well as your address info. Easy pickings.

In my mind the best defense against theft is a garage and good insurance. Last month my buddy's new Duramax was stolen from his driveway. Tried to locate it via OnStar. OnStar told him the onboard tracking unit was disabled 38 seconds after the truck was started. Thieves no how to disable Lojack, OnStar, etc. The average crook won't make it past the PATS. The pro will make it by all of them.

If mine is stolen, I don't want it back. Ask you insurance agent about full replacement coverage. It costs a little more but insures that your rig is replaced should it be stolen or totaled.
