Has anyone tried TrailSkinz?

I got some of the xpel clear bra material.
As a test I applied it to a small area in the bed and tried to scratch it up with a knife.
Didn't damage the paint at all.

I'm sampling a few other products, I'll post how they work out.
I may end up using clear bra on the entire truck.

Testing in the bed since I plan to linex it, so scratches there won't matter.

How did the clear bra hold up? I am considering either ordering a black or white raptor. My concerns are the paint durability after 4wheeling. I saw a black raptor at the dealer with trail stripes all along the sides. It looks poor, but clean black is best.

Thoughts are appreciated.

will never understand this kind of thing.
but, if you choose to do so, I wont call you an idiot for doing it.

the way I see it, its paint, that looks good. and yo uwant to keep it looking good right?
so lets slap on something to cover up that beautiful paint.....

well what the hell is the point of protecting it because it looks good, when all you're doing is covering it up so you cant see it anyways.

I get it, some people dont want to ruin the paint on their $50,000 truck.....
then why the hell did you buy a $50,000 OFFROAD truck? but a street queen if you are going to be so damn worried about keeping it in 100% prime condition. because we all know if you're like that, it aint gonna leave pavement. so whats the point.

just my $0.02

haha no worries.

those damn black car bras people get are the worst.

i ask "why do you have that on there?"

they say "to protect the paint"

I say "whats the point of protecting it, if you dont see it anyways?"

they give me a strange look....

protect it so it looks nice, but its covered so you cant see it anyways... where is the logic in that one. i dunno. first thing i did when I got my ranger was remove the POS grille cover and bug guard. sure, my hood might have the odd rock ding now, but idc. at least I can see the beautiful paint, rather than some ugly black plastic thing.

A lot of the Hummer guys use them GM came out with them as an accessory for a while. Usually they end up duct taped onto the truck cause the magnets can't hold up to the dust, dirt, water. The owners just accepts the fact that they will need to clean off the duct tape residue when the get home. (I actually think most make their children do it)

* From my experience magnetic sheeting will, generally speaking, stay on the truck in most conditions. But...

* It's a good idea to tape ALL the LEADING edges because if an edge lifts on the freeway (higher speeds) there's a good chance your sheeting will be peeled off from the wind.

* There doesn't have to be ANY "duct tape residue" IF you use the right product! I found out about this tape just before I first put the magnetic sheeting on my Raptor. It's a great product and they guarantee no residue issues for 6 months...

i cant see this staying put if it gets dirty, and the only time you would need it is offroading so its gonna get dirty and not stay on..and i dont think it looks good either (even tho i dont think its made to look good)

if it stayed put, wouldnt be a bad solution...not for that price tho

Not to mention it would have to be 100% clean before you put the magnets on. Magnets on top of dirt against paint, great idea right there.
