Thanks. I usually have to go out of town to get any respect from a dealer. I think if you're local, the dealer figures he owns you. The out of town dealers often act like they're only getting one real shot at a deal. I've gotten trucks in Denver, Salt Lake City, and Tucson. A $100 plane ticket and an enjoyable drive home in a new truck isn't too high a price to pay. I was thinking I'd have to go east and south this time. I talked to AN five weeks ago about the same truck and they weren't willing to go below invoice plus $1500, so their attitude has changed. Their showroom is still closed and if I were them I'd be freaking out about the possibility that their shutdown won't lift before the rest of Colorado starts getting sick again and a new statewide shutdown occurs. It's a good time to make an offer. Their internet sales guy is named Yemane Abraham and he couldn't have been better to work with.

At AN Littleton...what did you end up paying? Invoice +$1500?

Car registration in CO is brutal. 8% sales tax + $1200 to register.

Any bets as to where the law saying you pay sales tax only on the difference between purchase and trade came from? I wonder if there's a well-heeled business group involved? Trade your old ride at $12k or sell it at $13k is a break even. More money for the dealer, less for the state.

Yeah I've done the math...I would have to sell my truck $4k more than what the dealer is offering to make up for the tax on the new truck. Its just easier to trade it in that way.

Thanks. I was quoted 7.9% off through a dealer in Georgia for an ordered vehicle. Just a $299 doc fee on top and shipped most anywhere for another $299. There was also another doing the same but drop shipping for free. His info is in the first few pages of this thread.

"long time listener, first time caller...."

Just pulled the trigger and joined the club, so here's a little real-time data. First, I was looking for a very particular combination: Performance Blue, Blue Recaro interior, bead-lock, 802A and NO sunroof. If I could have budged on the sunroof or color, deals are out there at for at or 1-2k below invoice pretty easy if you search. However, getting to the desired "out-the-door" number can get entertaining as dealers add 400 to 2500 in "fees" on top of the price, which taxes land on top price+fees.

Had a deal done with a dealer in Winter Haven FL at below invoice but with 2k of fees. Bottom line OTD was good had a verbal agreement over the phone, but they balked and re-traded the next day, adding 2500 to the OTD. That told me something has changed in the market and "below invoice" is no longer the mark (for that truck at that dealer).

Had a local dealer do a nationwide search for my spec and found 8 trucks. Called all 8 and got "best price" from each. Closed a deal below invoice + 400 fees for the last 2019 with my spec in the US. Out-the-door after tax for about 3k below MSRP. Most were 1-2k above invoice + fees + taxes for 2020 with my spec. Some held firm at MSRP.

My observation is the lack of production from Dearborn + demand for full-size truck despite economic slow down has tilted power a bit back to the dealer. There is a TON of inventory out there and still a lot of 2019 product, but dealers are worried about getting more inventory as it's likely there will only be another month of 2020 production (if re-start goes well). If flexible on color, options and geography, deals are out there, but it's not crazy yet for 2020s.

And if dealers are hearing that there will be no Raptor in 2021, there's less incentive to unload...

Edit to add: At some point, you have to decide if a better deal is worth the extra effort. Could I have saved more? Probably. But not locally. And there aren't many 801As out there. Just doing that saved me $7k. I have all the features I really want or need and a limited amount of fluff. More money for mods. :)

Welcome. That's all I'm good for.
